We welcome you to our Traditional Singaporean Chinese Home to learn how to cook the famous local dish also touted as Singapore's 'national' dish - Steamed Hainanese Chicken Rice.
The recipe for the Hainanese Chicken Rice is adapted from early Chinese immigrants from Hainan Island, off the southern coast of China and my family is the 2nd generation from Hainan island. In the early days, the Hainanese came here to work as cooks for the european families and subsequently, the Hainanese are well-known for establishing their own recipes and brand - “Ya-Kun Kaya Toast” is one typical example as well as the “Singapore Sling” in Raffles Hotel.
Unlike other cooking experience, we will focus on just one important dish. Our specially curated recipe combined with the hands-on style of teaching will immerse you into the experience of preparing your own Hainanese chicken rice. All ingredients will be freshly sourced and prepared (no frozen items!)
We will teach you how to prepare three main dishes needed in the Traditional Hainanese Chicken Rice meal.
1) The whole steamed white chicken (of course)
2) The fragrant rice
3) Chilli - our secret home made recipe
