It consists of the most interesting and important facts about the glorious past of Dresden, its rich art history and exciting present. As an art historian I cannot but introduce you to how Dresden established itself as a city of world-class art and sadly how the most of it disappeared during the Second World War. We will talk about the sudden destruction of Dresden and how it rose from ashes to shine in the never before seen splendour. You will hear what the initial purpose of Zwinger was, what the ‚white gold’ is and why everyone was after it. We will enjoy a small piece of a sweet traditional Christmas treat on our way to slowly get you into the mood for Weihnachten (German for Christmas) - please, let me know if you have any food allergies so that I can look for an alternative.
