  • The place was a gem. It is located on the hills above the city, and you get an unobstructed view all the way to my. Helena and Hood. To be clear to those who rent, the rental is for the entire downstairs area and Lance lives on the second level. Lance was great about communicating and gave us our space to enjoy our stay. He also made coffee for us in the morning and made us feel very welcome! Would definitely recommend.

  • We really enjoyed staying in Lance's treehouse! Beautiful city and mountain views! Lance was a cordial host- providing local recommendations and a history of the house.

  • Couldn't have asked for a more beautiful and unique place to stay for our first visit to Portland. Beautiful neighborhood, fascinating house, and wonderful host. Thanks, Lance!

  • Great stay! Beautiful room. Lance was very nice and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. Would highly recommend!

  • Lance is a stellar host! I could not have asked for a better inaugural airbnb experience. His property has remarkable views of Portland and we were able to achieve so much respite thanks to the serenity of the treehouse and his kind accommodations. The place is furnished beautifully. Lance is such a fun guy and Barbie is a sweetheart. This was a wonderful experience.

    Joseph2015-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing view and beautiful place. Lance was kind and kept to himself. Had we been able to stay longer, we would've loved to talk to him and get to know him. Waking up to the sunrise was perfect. I would highly recommend staying here over a nice hotel and enjoying the hiking close by.

    Laura2015-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lance was very welcoming and his home was a marvel to see in person. The view from bed is impossible to beat--Mt St Helens off in the distance and Portland like I'd never seen it. Would recommend!

    Sarah2015-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place highly recommended!

Unique hand built cob cottage next to lg. pond w water feature. Lg. fenced and gated yard. Gentle, curving space-made from sand, straw, water and earth . Featured in multiple international publications. The floor is also earthen clay with added radiant heat. Beautiful natural light. It's truly a magical place.
It's a curvilinear earthen structure hand sculpted from water, sand, straw, and clay earth. It features a radial roof with a central pagoda-like skylight. When building the Cob, we used reclaimed and natural materials when ever possible. The insulation in the ceiling is made from pulverized reclaimed blue jeans and the floor is made from the same earthen clay. It has a Dutch door, so you can open the top part for additional ventilation. It also has air conditioning available in the warmer months and a radiant heat floor. The bed is a very comfortable double with a memory foam mattress topper. The bathroom for the cottage is in the main house, about 40 steps to the back door. Inside you’ll find a large sitting room and full kitchen as well as your bath with claw foot tub and shower. These spaces are shared with 2 Airbnb rooms in the house. If you find the bath busy, our full bath is available upstairs on the second floor.
We are located in a sweet older neighborhood in inner SE Portland, built around the turn of the century. The neighborhood is extremely walkable/bikeable, and just two blocks from one of Portland's great restaurant rows, filled with unique locally owned restaurants, coffeehouses, bars, food carts, pot shops, ice cream vendors, pizza joints, clothing retailers, yoga studios and yes, even an old-school hardware store.
  • I stumbled upon this listing and knew right away that this is where I was supposed to stay when visiting Portland. As a cob builder myself, I can testify that this cob cottage was built with much skill and love. At the same time that I felt to be a solitary guest in a cabin in the woods, I was actually situated in the midst of one of Portland’s best walkable neighborhoods with access to restaurants of many cuisines, coffee shops, groceries, and transit to the rest of the city. I wish I could have had more time to chat with Chris and Jack, however, I used to live in Portland and my old buddies kept kidnapping me from my cottage my the koi pond. I did get to meet and chat with Cris one day on my way out on a venture. We had much to talk about and left much for the next time we might meet. Cris and Jack are tremendously hospitable and so is the space they have created. If you are visiting Portland, and are looking for a unique and comfortable dwelling in a great neighborhood, and if you are lucky enough for this cozy space to be available, don’t hesitate one second. It’s the best deal in town.

  • The place is adorable! Great location next to amazing food, shopping, etc. Make sure to check out Pinolo gelato on Division!

    Stefanie2016-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • Jack & Cris have an amazing property. I loved the artsy cobb cottage!! The yard is pretty and the bed was super comfortable. Nice accommodations~ the bathroom needed tidying up upon my arrival but they worked quickly to remedy that. I would recommend this to anyone that loves a magical place to stay!

    Alexandra2017-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Jack was away on our stay but we did get to meet cris. The cob was SUPER cute and the perfect size for sleeping. Upon our arrival Cris did explain that the bathroom is separate from the cob and how to get to it, very easy. The bathroom was well stocked with the essentials I would only ask for maybe one more towel and that's it! Super clean, smelled nice, had tp, just what a lady needs. The wifi password and other info was on a nice little card in the cob. The cob also had the option of an AC or heater which was very useful. Cris let us enjoy our time and was readily available if we had any questions. I really appreciate her letting us stay there for our time in Portland. For sure some interesting shire vibes happening. Check out was confusing ,on my behalf, on my app it said something along the lines of check out being negotionable. (Pretty sure the ios Airbnb app is malfunctioning this week or something) regardless cris was very understanding of the time mishap and also the fact that I accidentally took her keys in the hulabaloo of me being late! Yikes! Cris took it very well though and was nice about it. Mistakes happen:/ it just sucks when it's a stress induced situation by me. Long story short, if you're thinking about it go for it!

  • My wife and I loved our 2 night stay here. The house is magical and the neighborhood is great.

    John2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • To start, I should say that we stayed here before the bathroom and kitchenette became a shared space with another rental on the property. Just as a personal preference, we would not have opted to stay here if it were set up as a communal bathroom, but maybe that's just us. That being said, this backyard oasis was pretty magical and like nothing else we had ever experienced. Such a special space! My wife was dying over what she called the "Hobbit Dutch Door" that is now on her homeowner's wishlist. The property was in a great neighborhood with plenty of parking where we were easily able to walk to brunch and back through the charming streets. We especially enjoyed the resident felines who were oh-so-sweet and loved a good tummy scritchin' (we're suckers for a kitty!) The one thing I will say, if you are a light-sensitive sleeper, a sleeping mask is a must. Due to the unique design of the Cob Cottage, there's a lot of bright light that comes in. This would not dissuade us from staying here again, but my wife was very glad she had remembered to pack hers.

    Scott2017-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Such a magical place to stay. The house is made with such love and attention to details. We loved the feel of staying in such a natural room. We appreciated the little artistic touches in the sunroom, bathroom and yard as well. It was a lovely stay for our babymoon. Thank you!

  • This cottage was adorable and romantic! Cute yard and clean place. We would recommend this for any couple traveling in the Portland area looking to stay somewhere unique.

This wonderful, private little gem is just a few easy walking blocks from plentiful drinking, dining, dispensing, yoga & coffee spots. You will be one block from Woodlawn Park, 2 blocks from a bus and a 5 minute drive from the Alberta Shopping and Arts District. It's all so comfortably close by, but not close enough to disturb your relaxing, sweet retreat. Come have it all while living small in this tiny, artsy home away from home!
This space was built as a Model T Garage in 1926 behind a 1915 bungalow but it has had a face lift and has taken on a new life as a cozy, warm freestanding studio made mostly from reclaimed materials. A "tiny house" if you will, sweetly positioned between fruit trees and a garden sitting area. The sleeping loft comfortably sleeps two and there is a futon below the loft where one can enjoy a book while the other naps above. Occasionally you will hear the trains in the distance which adds a touch of nostalgia and you get to wake to the relaxing clucking and cooing of the neighborhood hens as this area has a nice spattering of urban farms and lots of mature trees. For your comfort, this as a "pet dander free" space. No pets, thanks. The table pictured here has been replaced with a "garden shed" counter that houses a small, removable basin sink. There is also a rustic, rough hewn armoire to hang clothes and tuck away your backpacks. The little kitchenette corner is stocked with utensils, a two burner cooktop, a mini fridge, a microwave, coffee and a coffee press. The studio's setup is more akin to a cabin, and as many cabins go, there is no bathroom. You will be given a key to the main house so please feel comfortable enough to come in and use the facilities. By the way, it is insulated, well heated, and stocked with plenty of blankets so it is a wonderful, warm hideaway in the fall and winter months as well. Yep, snuggly wifi too. The yard is plentiful with flowers and fruit bearing trees (figs and delicious yellow plums) in the summertime, as well as an array of veggies in the gardens where you can sit amongst the trees and regroup after a hard day at Powells Books. It's within a 5 minute walk from the heart of Woodlawn which has some fantastic spots to shop, drink, dance, and dine: -Firehouse Restaurant, somewhat romantic with good service -Woodlawn Coffee House, for plenty of people watching -Breakside Brewery, to grab a bite and catch up on the game -Grand Army Tavern, have some pork with your...pork : ) -Good Neighbor Pizza, laid back & late night too -P's & Q's Market serves yummy meals and a few grocery items -The Village Ballroom, for Square Dance and Special events -Uptown Cycles, sales and repairs -Portland Girl, spa day anyone? -Greener Grasses, well-rated dispensary -Koken Market, for almost any beer you want, snacks -Café Eleven, art, coffee, lunch & some pastries -Oregon Public House, the nation's 1st nonprofit pub -The Highwater Mark, rock pub with pool & hip hop on last Fridays -Tamale Boy, authentic & delicious with lots of outside seating -Bassato Gelato, 12 rotating flavors+bagels in the morning -HighWheel Mead, open Thurs-Sunday -(Seasonally) Woodlawn Farmer's Market at Woodlawn Triangle, Sat. 10-2 Downtown is a 15 minute drive. The Alberta Arts District is also just minutes away so you can hop on a bike and be right in the middle of the jam-packed Last Thursday Art Walk or make a day of it with shopping, dinner and some delicious ice cream from the infamous Salt & Straw. Then come "home" to your quieter retreat where you can just relax and lay in the hammock.....ahhhh. And as the area is well surrounded by beautiful, mature trees, you may decide to enjoy dinner in the love seat swing under the pergola and watch the evening sky. It is a wonderful theatre for watching small bats do their sky routine in the distance. Flying in? This spot is only 10 minutes from the airport. And while in Portland, you may want some wheels! Well, this location is very close to Zipcars and you can sign up with them or Car2go on their sites in advance of your stay. Check out Turo or Getaround to grab a vehicle to tool But if you want to explore the city on two wheels, Everybody Bike Rentals or Ebikes ( electric bike rentals) are the spots to hit first (10 min. by bus). They provide helmets and locks too! ***If you don't see the dates available on the calendar that you had hoped for or if you are traveling with more than two people, please check out my other listing (#95313) which is also a private studio at the same location. It is larger and complete with a private entry and bathroom. Just ask me! Parking is close and the livin' is pretty easy. So please get that profile completed, then contact me and come kick up your heels and stay a while! Oh! P.S. Please read the description, house rules and post a pic of you in your profile beforehand just so that everyone is on the same page. Much appreciated. Cheers!
  • Cute little home, thanks Andrée!

  • Very cozy and pretty place to leave. Andee prepared everything for us.

    esther2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place was adorable and very clean. The host was incredibly friendly. We were not at all familiar with the area so she gave us great directions for walking to a strip of restaurants and shops. She also left some local papers for us with lots of events listed, though it was hard to pry ourselves away from this cozy spot. This is also a great place if you like cats. We were greeted by Hurricane, the neighborhood maine coon. Mamacita is a sweet cat who guards the front door. Just don't let the cats inside.

    Teresa2014-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • As advertised!

    Eric2016-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Andrée was an amazing host! She is very friendly and makes sure you get the most from your trip. Everything was so clean and wanted us to be safe as well. The tiny house was cozy and very close to all the places we wanted to see. Would definitely stay again, and recommending it to others! Thank you again Andrée we really appreciated all you did!

    Alejandra2017-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Welcoming host, wonderful space and great location! I will definitely be back for a longer stay :)

    Robin2014-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute, unique loft. Andrée is very welcoming, responsive, and kind. Host provides a key to her house to use her bathroom. It's a bit loud at night with a rail line nearby and a semi-busy street and internet connection isn't very strong in the loft. Location is near Woodlawn Park (10 min walk), Woodlawn Café and Bakery (15 min walk), Pine State Biscuits (30 min walk), Salt & Straw (30 min walk), and many other great spots. Car2Gos are easy to find in the nearby neighborhood, if you're in need of driving.

    Bree2015-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Andree's cabin is just as it looks in the picture - very sweet, small but with everything you need. She made sure she was there to meet us and help get us settled. Using the bathroom in the house works fine although we lost track of time so missed a shower the first night because it was too late. She gave us great recommendations for restaurants so were able to eat Indian food, Ethiopian food and gourmet ice cream all in about 24 hrs. If you are okay with small and sharing a bathroom, this place is perfect.

With just the right amount of space for two, this studio has everything that makes a house feel like a home: a fireplace, a full kitchen, King Memory foam Bed, oak floors, handmade furniture, cable tv, and a private entrance.
This studio is a welcoming space in the center of an historic neighborhood that offers a unique perspective on the city of Portland. Ask me for in-depth info on where to go and what to see in the Irvington neighborhood, the Alberta Arts District, and other parts of Northeast Portland! Over the years, I’ve gotten to know quite a few incredible places to eat, drink, shop, and explore here. Located at the hub of some of Portland’s most interesting neighborhoods, this studio places the whole city at your fingertips. But adventure can be tiring, and the studio offers ample opportunity to put your feet up. Portland can get nippy at night, and a real wood fireplace, stocked with firewood from locally harvested and dried urban hardwood trees, is the perfect way to warm up and feel at home. The apartment has high ceilings and a great fireplace; it’s minimally decorated but has all the important things: a king bed, a couch with a coffee table, a small desk, a dresser and extra shelves, and a kitchen table. The kitchen comes fully stocked with the essentials for cooking a real meal, and the bathroom always has towels, soap and shampoo. The space is located on the first floor of a large 1910 home, which was converted to an eight-plex in the 1940s to adapt to the demands of WWII. I have lived in Irvington for 14 years and Portland for 25, and this house is one of the most unique that I’ve seen.
The Irvington neighborhood, now only a ten minute bike ride from downtown, was once a trolley-car suburb to the just-fully-developed West side. Designated a historic district by the National Register of Historic Places in 2010, Irvington is filled with early 20th century homes that have been preserved in their original states. Irvington has become a livable hub of Northeast Portland as a whole, with shops and restaurants of all kinds, within walking distance, surrounding the neighborhood. Irvington proper boasts more than a few community and culinary destinations of its own.
  • La casa es muy bonita y limpia. Todo funciona: chimenea, agua caliente, estufa... Todo. El barrio es hermoso. Parece de un cuento. El acceso al centro de la ciudad es fácil y más o menos rápido.

    Pixel2016-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here while attending a conference at the Convention Center, and it was great for work travel. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, it was easy to get to the conference, grocery store, and food options whether I was walking, driving, or taking mass transit. Hannah was also fantastic when I asked to drop my bags off early due to a work meeting, and had the place ready earlier than expected. I would definitely stay here again!

    Anastasia2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Great communication with Jason. Had fun walking to local restaurants. Thanks!

    Duane2016-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very lovey place in a great neighborhood. Very easy check-in and Hannah was quick to respond with any questions we had. The fireplace was great! Would love to return.

    Jessica2018-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Not quite as large as assumed from photos, but definitely a nice clean place. Simple and easy check-in/out. No issues whatsoever and had no need to contact the host.

    Johnway2018-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a good experience staying at this apartment. Nice furniture and modern look within an older building. Neighborhood was great as well, great to walk around and near a few coffee shops.

    Taylor2018-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was a centrally located spot for the needs of my stay. The place was clean, easy to find, close to many things, and had a cute charm to it. The only thing and this is the case with older buildings- since it is an 8-plex, you hear everything so make sure and bring earplugs in case you want to sleep in. There was street parking available and Hannah was very responsive when needed.

Laurelhurst is an historic old Portland neighborhood with beautiful homes, street trees and a huge park a few blocks away designed by the Olmsted's who designed Central Park in NYC. You will see how homes in Laurelhurst are each very different and unique from craftsmen with large porches to smaller bungalows with beautiful gardens.
  • This air bnb is fantastic! Really unique place with the beautiful gardens, antique furnishings and historic home. The neighborhood is beautiful conveniently located. Sue and Bob communicate all the necessary details about check-in, were very flexible about allowing a late check out and kindly gave us a tour of their lovely home. The apartment is very clean, the bed was cozy and their instruction book offered helpful tips for navigating the city. A+ listing all around.

    Megan & Dean2016-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Bob and Sue were amazing hosts. Their home is absolutely stunning, while being cozy and welcoming. They provided valuable local information and were available if we needed them. Very well located, easy to find, and beautiful. If this isn't the best rental in Portland I'd be shocked.

    Ken2015-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Like staying with family. Sue and Bob were great, their basement apartment is beautiful and has everything one would need during a short or long trip. My wife, 21 month old son, and I stayed for nearly 2 weeks. The hosts ensured we had everything we needed from a crib and booster seat to recommendations on were to eat and what to visit. The apartment is well stocked with kitchen items and even daily necessities for cooking and cleaning. The neighborhood is beautiful, there are parks close by and several bus stops within walking distance. In the past we've stayed at numerous hotels in downtown Portland that cost 3-4 times as much per night, we won't make that mistake again. Highly recommend staying here, you will not regret it. Nick, Fanny, and Magnus

    Nick2012-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Bob and Sue could not have been any nicer and their main house as well as the cottage apartment match their warm and hospitable personalities. Attention to little details like welcome snacks, a bottle of champagne and candles was so appreciated. Meticulously clean and a very comfy bed! We hope to come back here soon.

  • A very pleasant stay. Welcoming hosts and a nice, cozy apartment in a charming house. Excellent for one or two people for almost any length of stay. Close to necessary stores and transportation. Very enjoyable.

  • Great location, beautiful space, great tips, and friendly hosts. You can’t go wrong, absolutely adored the stay.

  • Staying at Sue & Bob's place is like taking a trip through a wonderland of early 1940s - 1950s history. Sue & Bob did an amazing job decorating their house and the apartment with whimsical americana furnitures and amenities by refurbishing antique appliances to modern functionality. The beautiful garden surrounding their house no doubt has appeared in various garden magazines. Sue & Bob are wonderful & accommodating hosts: they generously offered to give us a ride to and from the max rail even though it is only about 7 blocks from the house. They also gave us a tour of their house and told us about it's history. The apartment that we rented is in the basement portion of their house. It was wonderfully decorated with all the amenities that we could possibly needed including a washer and dryer and a fully equipped kitchen. It remained cool and had great AC which was a blessing during the 100 degree weather we were experiencing. This is a very special place and we are grateful that Sue & Bob are willing to share it to us lucky renters.

    Lan2018-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The home was very nice and inviting. Sue and Bob were very helpful in many ways. We would definitely stay there again. Very pleased with the experience in the cottage apartment and loved all the history.

Everything you need is here at our brand new guesthouse loft: a luxurious, lofted queen bedroom; high ceilings with floods of natural light, a modern kitchen, full bath with heated tile, comfy sleeper sofa for extra guests, and Stumptown Coffee with organic cream. The loft rests at the back of the property, one block from bustling Division St, and short blocks from restaurants, coffeeshops, & the Woodsman Tavern, named “One of America’s Best Bars,” by Esquire Magazine.
The loft is located in our backyard in Southeast Portland. While we are only steps away if you need us, the space is very private. In fact, guests report that they forget they are in the middle of the city when they stay in our space! We live in a desirable and fun neighborhood, and parking can be tight! Guests usually find parking within a block or two of our house. At night or during busy times of the day, parking can be found within two short blocks. Guests may feel free to use our driveway for loading/unloading. We do not have a TV in the guesthouse, but offer excellent wifi access.
Our neighborhood has everything you will need, mostly within a five-minute walk! And if you want to visit a different part of the city, there is convenient public transportation around the corner. Check out excellent coffeeshops blocks away (Good Coffee and Stumptown), delicious and intimate restaurants (Bete Lukas, Mi Mero Mole, The Woodsman), or walk up to Mt. Tabor Park. If you're into yoga, there's an awesome space (Yoga Union) around the corner.
  • We had a wonderful experience staying with Laurel and Brian. Aside from the obviously beautiful space, it is located close to many wonderful shops on Division, and close to transit that can take you anywhere in the city. We were on our honeymoon, and they were thoughtful enough to leave a bottle of wine in the kitchen for us when we arrived. Everything was clean, the kitchen is well stocked with items for cooking, and the bed is very comfortable. Our only regret was not being able to find time to have a drink with L & B. Thank you for a wonderful space to start off our honeymoon!

  • This was a perfect Airbnb. Immaculately clean, no clutter, just enough well-chosen amenities. Great suggestions for local coffee, food. Friendly reception but plenty of privacy. So much sunlight. Very comfy bed and duvet. I loved it!

    Bryan2017-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • The stay was literally everything we had hoped. The home in-itself was a destination to enjoy due to the design/ambience/vibe/whatever you want to call it. It rapidly welcomes you in and gets you settled down. The immediately surrounding neighborhood had so much to explore, from eats to funky bungalow architecture. The location was a perfect launching point into the greater Portland area.

  • We stayed for a girl's getaway for a few days. The guesthouse is bright and beautiful with tons of natural light in a residental part of Portland. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance though - we recommend Xico (for dinner) and Woodsman Tavern (for brunch). Thanks for hosting us!

    Stevie2017-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Laurel and Brian's place is great! My wife, son, and I stayed for 2 nights. It is centrally located so that it is easy to commute quickly anywhere around Portland. The neighborhood is beautiful! The back home is warm, inviting and was done tastefully. The loft has the bed and it has a great open feeling ! We loved our time there!!

    Gordon2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Laurel & Brian’s place is exactly as pictured and a pretty nice place to stay. It's located in a nest of yummy eateries. Petite Provance is a fantastic place for breakfast (tip: croissants and jam!) and the Woodman Tavern has great cocktails and the food looked great! Both are an easy walk. Have a look on Yelp for more about what's in the area, it's pretty hopping. Despite being a block away from all the action, the unit itself is very quiet, and it was quite nice to hear birds singing (in winter?!) when we opened an upstairs window. The bed in the unit was very comfy, and the heated bathroom floor a real treat. There are tons of windows and the place was really bright, especially when it was sunny outside.

    Murat2017-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Thank You Laurel & Brian, what a lovely place you have! You made our first Airbnb experience very special! Didn't expect to find groceries and that coffee just kept coming every day! We felt very comfortable. The neighborhood is very lovely, great location and easy to navigate. We enjoyed some of the neighborhood restaurants especially the French bakery that we miss a lot! Next time we're in beautiful Portland we will definitely come and stay at your place again.

    David2016-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place is AMAZING! We were staying in Portland for one night as part of a road trip and this was definitely the highlight. The space itself has been brilliantly designed and set out. The bed and the sofa bed are both really comfortable and the kitchen and bathroom were clean and modern. It was easy to find and access as well! Laurel and Brian had left a little guide of Portland and the surrounding area which was really useful. The location is excellent with a plethora of coffee shops, restaurants and cool places to grab a beer literally around the corner! The neighbourhood felt quite and safe. We would 100% stay here again. Thanks!

Where Bali meets Portland. Come relax in this newly, beautifully designed, private mixed use accommodation. Just five short blocks from Portland's hip N Williams district. A rooftop deck.
I have a total of five rooms, each listed separately in this unique mixed-use building where I also live and work. You will enter just past the Ned Ludd front patio via a private, secure, gated entrance off of MLK at NE Failing street and follow the stairway up to the second level. This is the larger of the three rooms. Each room is newly refurbished and furnished with beautiful, responsibly sourced tropical salvage out of Indonesia and locally re-purposed wood/trim doors and windows. Your private room comes with a window, a wall-mounted flatscreen t.v., small refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, free wi-fi an armoire, an ornate sink carved out of stone, down pillows, down comforters, a king-sized posturepedic mattress and zen colored walls that might just make you think you are in... Bali?
NEPO (aka NE Portland) is hip and cool and like so many hip Portland neighborhoods–it is ever-expanding and reinventing itself. New restaurants, shops, boutiques and businesses are popping up all over. Whether you are looking for a place to lay your head for the night while you get out and explore during the day, or you are just looking for a place you can hole up and relax, we've got you covered. The options and amenities you will find here in your little oasis in NEPO are plentiful.
  • This was a well-appointed room upstairs from a restaurant - but the restaurant isn’t open late and the space is very quiet. My favorite part about it was that the blankets and pillows were almost unbelievably warm and fluffy! I was originally worried about the shared bathroom and shower space, but I never ended up having to wait for it at all, and the shower has a rain shower head and is quite nice. Each room has a sink. There are also a number of cool books in the lobby area if you’re interested. Also, if you stay here, we highly highly recommend the restaurant nearby, Ned Ludd. Probably the best meal we had in Portland, and right around the corner!

  • Great find in North East Portland. It was very close to the Venue I was attending and super easy to get to thanks to Timothy's clear instructions. The room was stylish and the King Bed was a dream. I loved the stone sink in the room. It was a very well done. Make sure you visit the wonderful coffee shop a couple of doors down. Great coffee and morning treats!!

    Laura2018-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This room was exactly as expected with a large, comfortable bed and linens. It is a shared bathroom with other guests which is indicated on the information, but was something I had forgotten until arrival, so I feel like it's worth noting. However, the shared restrooms were still very clean and the noise level was minimal despite other rooms nearby. I didn't have check in information upon arrival, but after calling Timothy, was able to get the info I needed for a smooth check in. We loved the area and nearby restaurants and were within walking distance of a concert we went to, which was awesome!

    Leigh2018-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute place and area! Must stay!

    George2017-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Wahou, the king size bed is SO MAGICAL. Really!! The bedroom is very beautiful and huge. Just notice that you have to share the bathroom with others guest, so it seems like an hostel, but completely perfect for a couple of nights! :-)

    Stéphanie & Damien2015-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely room in a great part of town, the host wasn't there, but he made it very easy to access and although we weren't there very long (only 24 hours or so) we appreciated being in a nice place before our flight home.

    Fiona2015-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Timothy was a very welcoming host. The room was very nice and in a convenient location.

    Seth2015-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a great stay at Timothy's place. The few times we interacted with Tim he was very courteous and kind. The room was lovely. We had one of the largest of his guest rooms which I highly recommend booking. It is easily double the space of the smaller rooms but didn't cost a whole lot more. The huge king size bed and comfy pillows alone made booking this room worth every penny. Our room also came with a microwave and a mini fridge. I was so impressed and grateful to find that there. We were able to go nearby to New Seasons and pick up some groceries. We were able to make oatmeal in the mornings and keep snacks in the fridge to have between meals. We bought fruit and sandwiches that we were able to store in our room and take on our hikes. This made it so convenient and easy for us to just get up and go in the mornings without having to stop. And it helped to save money so we could spend extra on very nice dinners out on the town. The neighborhood was perfect for us. It was a short drive from all the fun places we visited in Portland. There is an Avis rental car place very close which allowed us to take a short $13 Uber ride from the airport to the rental place. (Traveler's tip* the cost of a car rental is cut almost in half if you book it at a location outside of the airport) This is the location that we used and it worked perfectly because it was cheap and on our way to and from the airport. (Website hidden by Airbnb) The only thing that I didn't care for very much was the fact that all the guests share the bathroom and showers. However I will say that it is set up in the most convenient way possible. All of the guest rooms are situated along one side of a hallway wall kind of like a hotel set up. Lavatories are on the other side of the wall across from the rooms. Two doors lead to 2 different showers and another two doors lead to 2 different half baths (toilet/sink). That way 4 people can actually be getting ready at the same time without disturbing each other. An added bonus was that we had our own sink inside of our room so I was able to brush my teeth and wash my face without ever leaving the room. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we would definitely book it again in the future.

Relaxed + modern one bedroom basement apt. Bright + spacious with a handmade Portland touch. Comfortable for two, it's a great home-base for the traveler wanting to explore PDX! Located in charming Woodlawn neighborhood. Near the park, bars and bus lines.
Handmade by us! We're a craftsman and an interior designer who are not afraid to get our hands dirty. Stay in this remodeled basement where every detail was thought, planned and carefully constructed. We value high-end, conscious design. Our motto is maintain, reclaim and sustain. All of the exposed wood was salvaged from this 100 year old home! We love our house and hope that you do too. It's a great, peaceful place to crash at the end of the day. A plush queen sized bed, a huge doorless walk-in bathroom (ie. divided by a wall), glass walk-in shower and a tiny but efficient kitchen were top priorities when we made this place. The kitchen has dishwasher/fridge/oven stocked with all the pots/pans and plates to make a nice meal at home. Its always a shifting art-installation, so don't be surprised if the art in the listing photos change. We like to collect art and objects during our travels.
We're one block from 2 major bus lines (the 8 goes to downtown) and our neighborhood market, P's & Q's. 3 blocks from Woodlawn park + 5 blocks to our neighborhood hub: breweries, dance hall, coffee shop and restaurants. Woodlawn is a great area and closely located to Alberta Arts District, Mississippi and Kenton.
  • Anna and Jeremy’s place is very clean and in a great neighborhood. We would highly recommend staying here if you plan to be in the area.

    Ken2018-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Jeremy were outstanding hosts! Anna was really welcoming upon check-in and gave us great tips about traveling in Portland. She checked in on us, but for the most part, gave us our space (which is how we prefer to travel). If we needed anything, she was always a quick text away. The place was super-clean and warm. We had a great New Year's in Portland thanks to them!

  • super location, quiet, stylish and soothing place. book it!

  • Was in town for work and was looking for a home base that was comfortable and convenient. This place fit the bill perfectly! Was amazed at the beautiful space. The different materials and design elements were everything I love but could never put together myself. Anna was incredibly friendly and offered great neighborhood tips for where to eat, walk, drink for which we were incredibly grateful. Would love to stay again in the future!

    Alex2015-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a week at Anna and Jeremy’s place in Portland’s Woodlawn neighborhood. As advertised it was attractively decorated, quite quiet, and more than roomy enough for a couple like us. A welcoming bottle of champagne was a nice touch. The neighborhood itself is quite walkable, very convenient for visiting our son and daughter-in-law nearby, and with lots of interesting places to walk to. We particularly liked the Oregon Public House and Bollywood Theater. Recommended.

    Muriel2015-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Jeremy definitely provided a cozy (and clean!) stay. It was like home away from home. They were so thoughtful with their preparation; from the recommendations to the toiletries in the cabinet, to the welcome bottle of local beer and fresh flowers in the vase, and much more. All in all, they were terrific hosts.

    Kristine2015-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in NE Portland in Anna & Jeremy's basement apartment was the best decision we could have made. The space is beautiful, clean and interesting. It's the perfect space in size and layout for a couple. I loved all of the natural light and the apartment stayed relatively cool, despite having no air conditioning on hot, sunny days. The location was also great. Quiet and residential, but super close to major bus lines. We also spent a lot of time at the Ps & Qs Market down the street. Seriously good food. Anna & Jeremy were perfect hosts: accommodating, flexible, responsive without being in your hair. We would definitely stay again.

    Anna2016-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great! It is very spacious for two people and was well equipped with everything you needed in the kitchen and the bathroom. The design of the place was super nice as well. We were only here for less than 24 hours but I know it would be a great place to stay if you're visiting Portland for much longer.

Our private detached garden studio sits in the heart of a quiet residential neighborhood and is a short stroll to top restaurants, food carts, and shopping in hip SE Portland. The space is compact -- about 240sf -- but cozy, bright and a great place to unwind after a day of exploring Portland!
Our cozy studio includes a comfy queen bed, vaulted ceilings, full bathroom, kitchenette, and small sitting area. It's fully detached from the main house, so offers complete privacy. Skylights, french doors, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows provide views of the west hills and flood the room with an abundance of natural light, even on the greyest of drizzly Portland days. It's small --about 240sf-- but the space is well utilized with many amenities such as wireless Bluetooth speaker, Portland maps and guides, and comfy pillows and blankets to make it feel like home. The space is best suited for guests seeking a cozy place to relax and recharge after a day of exploring Portland; It's quite small, so if you're needing more of a "hangout spot" this may not be the best fit. The studio has a full bathroom with shower (no tub). The kitchenette includes a mini fridge, sink, instant hot water, coffee maker, microwave and everything you need for reheating leftovers from the many restaurants and food carts nearby. Complementary tea and coffee are provided along with a long list of restaurant recommendations. There’s a growler available for filling, which you can do at The Imperial Bottle Shop on Division Street and at many local breweries and grocery stores nearby.
We love living in the heart of the Richmond neighborhood! Nestled on a quiet, residential street, we're a short stroll (about 1/3mi) to two main restaurant and retail districts of SE Portland. A 4-block walk brings you to a bus stop that can get you most anywhere else in town. A short walk from the studio brings you to food, shopping and entertainment (to name a few of our favorites): PokPok, Salt & Straw, Ava Gene's, Bollywood Theater; Food Cart pods, Little T Bakery, St Honore; A myriad of boutiques, shops and independent movie theaters on Hawthorne, Clinton and Division streets. You'll likely meet some friendly neighborhood cats during your stay, but due to severe allergies, our studio is pet- and allergen-free. You may also spot our eyepatch-wearing, kung fu-performing neighbor (and good friend) practicing in the street, sometimes alongside his 4yo daughter. He’s a world-renowned martial artist and teacher, is super friendly and adds some true Portland character to our otherwise sleepy neighborhood.
  • Lives up to all the 5 star reviews. Great location, easily accessible, quiet and private but also close to restaurants, shops, bars and nightlife. Would definitely return for another stay!

  • 5 stars all around! Melissa was so easy to communicate with and was so kind and hospitable to us. The space is small, but it is all the space you’d ever need. She has great taste in design (as you can see from the pictures), and she even had local tips for us. She even offered a later check out due to the weather. Highly suggest this spot.

  • Beautiful detached living space in a great location! We loved our experience here & would highly suggest visiting Melissa's location if you are in town.

  • We can't say enough about this fantastic Airbnb. It is exactly as pictured - wonderfully clean, beautifully decorated. Located within walking distance of so many yummy places to eat! Melissa was always attentive and quick to respond to requests yet gave us all of the privacy we desired. This was the perfect little getaway for our wedding anniversary and we look forward to the next time we can stay in her studio! Melissa - thank you for taking so much time and care into placing all of the finishing touches and perfect little "extras" that create such a warm and welcoming environment for your guests.

  • Stop looking and just book this adorable studio! This is the cutest studio, it is comfortable, well styled and stocked with more than you will need. It is in a quiet SE neighborhood, we felt safe walking late at night and it is central to two popular streets that are loaded with food and shopping. Our host was easy to communicate with (through the app) and helpful to answer my questions. We would happily stay here again if we ever come back to the Portland area.

    Natalie2017-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I loved staying here! The studio is beautiful, cozy and comfortable. Melissa and Brian were fantastic hosts. They provide everything you'd need and more. Thank for the hospitality! I would definitely stay here again.

  • What a delightful urban oasis! Melissa's place was a beautifully appointed, light and airy cottage overlooking the lush gardens of her back yard in a quiet residential neighborhood of Southeast Portland. I would have loved to have stayed longer than I did just to treat myself to the comforts of home she provided. I loved the little touches - fresh flowers, tea, coffee, sparkling water, chocolate!, little notes to make the visit as easy as it could be. Truly a nourishing experience. Thank you Melissa!

  • Anastasia's place was perfect! It was extremely cozy and in a great location with a variety of shops and restaurants in a walkable distance. Perfect for exploring the city. Anastasia was extremely great with communication and offered some wonderful tips and suggestions for my first time visiting Portland! If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely hope to stay here again!

  • The value for the location and accommodations cannot be beat. We were able to walk to tons of places or take public transit (which was easy to figure out). The studio was clean and comfortable. I slept better the first night there than I ever have in any hotel.

    Jessica2017-04-11T00:00:00Z

  • My host met me at my room the moment I arrived.. He introduced himself and was very welcoming. He took me to my room and pointed out all the amenities and showed me how thing worked and made sure I knew he and his wife were available should I need them for anything. The neighborhood was amazing! Accessible to everything, the street car was less than a block away. No need for a car at all. I am very pleased with my stay and should I come for another visit this is where I'll stay.

    Gina2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location, great value!

    Lora2018-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Anastasia's place is amazing. We have stayed in a lot of Airbnbs and this was our favorite by far! I'm pretty sure the location can't be beat. There are so many amazing places to eat within a few minutes (Blue Star Donuts, Salt & Straw, and tons of amazing places for dinner). The neighborhood itself is extremely safe and walkable. Parking nearby was never an issue, even on a summer weekend! The actual place itself is clean and comfortable- we would recommend this place to anyone in a heartbeat!

    Jen2018-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • I LOVED this place! It was simple, small, and chic. The location was amazing, I think I ate Little Big Burger almost every day. I was right on a street with cute shops and the famous Blue Star Donuts (which were delicious). I'm a person who enjoys as much self-sufficiency as possible and not a person who enjoys long talks with strangers and this check-in/check-out was my ideal situation. I didn't have to talk to the owners (I'm sure they are very nice people) because everything was laid out perfectly for me. Great location, great apartment, and honestly my favorite part was the toaster. I would definitely stay here again!

Buckman is a close in SE Portland neighborhood which is an increasingly popular place to live. The apartment is at the eastern end of the neighborhood. There are parks, a picturesque cemetery, good restaurants, wine bars, craft brewing pubs and the Laurelhurst movie theater, all within walking distance. The #15 bus line runs to downtown on the other side of the cemetery (6 blocks). A little further afield (just over a mile) is the Hawthorne district where there are some off beat shops and more places to eat and drink. Downtown is 2 miles away. The apartment is part of a new build and is situated at the rear of the property next to the garden It is one story up (over the garage) and receives a lot of natural light. It is fully self-contained, all appliances are new which makes self-catering very easy. What it lacks in history it more than makes up for in convenience! There is also ample free street parking directly outside the house. Buckman is pretty close to downtown while still having a residential flavor. It also contains a number of agreeable restaurants, wine bars and brewpubs. Everyday shopping needs such as grocery stores are also well served. Additionally it is pretty easy to get to the major freeways for travel purposes. Buses run to downtown and back a few blocks over.
  • Cara and Roger made us feel welcome by greeting us upon arrival with a friendly conversation and a warm welcome. They provided us with a detailed list of area amenities. The listing was even better than advertised. The space was extremely clean and like new. The bed was comfortable and the space was more than sufficient for a weeks stay. The kitchen was well equipped and having a washer and dryer made it very nice also. The on street parking was safe and the home is located in a good neighborhood. The location was convenient for traveling to Portland. Cara and Roger thought of everything. Having a bottle of wine waiting for us was so thoughtful! When returning to the Northwest we hope to return to Cara and Rogers!

    Rebecca2015-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a great experience! Cara and Roger were very communicative and helpful and there was a delicious bottle of wine awaiting us when we arrived. The apartment is lovely; spacious, airy, private, and exceptionally clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well organized and we appreciated the standard-sized refrigerator. Location was perfect for us, as well, and we can't wait to stay again on our next trip to Portland. Thank you, Cara and Roger!

    Kathy2015-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here for a week with a roommate during a very intensive dance course. We were up and out early, sometimes back briefly during the day, and studying at night. The convenience of this studio to food stores and public transport, as well as the excellent kitchen facility, made it a perfect lodging. Though located close to main streets, it wasn't noisy. Though I didn't get to meet Cara in person, she was very communicative both before and during our stay, and she responded very promptly to all communications. She and Roger were available to help but at the same time unobtrusive. The studio was very comfortable and had everything we needed to reduce our expenses: kitchen (with almost all the gadgets you'd need) and some basic staples like sugar, olive oil, spices; a large refrigerator; dishwasher; washer-dryer; generous foyer and comfy living space. All the linens and furnishings were beautiful and in good condition. Everything was pretty perfect for what we needed. Thank you!

    Katie2015-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great neighborhood. Was perfect for going to shows at Revolution Hall. Cozy with everything I needed.

    Chelsea2016-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay very much! The apartment has nice furnishings and includes everything you need. The hosts were easy to contact and helpful. The only thing we would change about the apartment is the firmness of the bed, it was a little too firm for our tastes. Even if you added a down mattress topper it would make a big difference. This place is beautiful and feels a bit luxurious.

    Michelle2014-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was a bright and clean apartment above the garage. Perfect for our short stay in Portland. Just a short walk to some great breakfast places, coffee shops & Voodoo Doughnuts. Also a couple of blocks from a BIKETOWN bike share station. We got a day pass and rode the 25 minutes into downtown. We would definitely recommend staying here.

    Lee2017-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Love this location. Just a few blocks from my favorite coffee shop (Creme) and my favorite pizza in Portland (Ken's Artisan Pizza). You are also a few blocks from groceries and a live music venue (Goodfoot). A perfect location for your Portlandia experience. Also, the unit itself has everything including a fully equipped kitchen and washer and dryer. Do you like a really clean modern place to stay? Book this! You will love it. And Cara and Rodger are the nicest people in the world! They even left a small bottle of wine, coffee, and cream. And a drawer full of of spices if you want to whip a meal up.

    Daniel2013-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about the apartment was exactly as described. I felt as if I was being welcomed to stay in someone's home as opposed to just renting a room. I happened to run into my hosts in passing and they were very nice. They make themselves available if you need anything but otherwise there is complete privacy. The apartment is very easy to get to, parking is easy and it's convenient to restaurants and shopping. I have absolutely no complaints about the apartment or about my stay. I couldn't have been more pleased and will definitely stay there again on a future trip.

  • Jere gave me directions to, and offered to pick me up from the local train station. I had a rental car did not take her up on the offer, but very much appreciated it. Jere found out I did not bring my cellphone car charger, so she loaned me one long with a reusable shopping bag. She also gave me an important piece of advice by driving the Old Scenic Highway, instead of just taking the freeway to get to the Bonneville Dam.

    Robert2014-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jere is an amazing host and the room is perfect. I moved here to Portland a little over a month ago from TX, and Jere has been instrumental in helping me to acclimate to my new home city. She is very knowledgable, provided maps, invited me on hikes, answered many questions, invited me in to the main part of the home for tea, and even met me after work to walk home (from downtown area). The room is large, clean, and comfortable with a nice private entrance covered deck and a huge bathroom, shower, and walk-in closet. I couldn't ask for a better host family or better accommodations as I begin a new life in Portland!

    Lisa2014-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Jere was very kind and welcoming. Also, a great communicator via text. She gave us lots of helpful info upon arrival and there were great maps & resources of Portland in the room. It was nice that the room was closed off & had a private entry so we didn't bother Jere and her husband and vice versa. Room had good "energy" to it. Bed was super comfy. Ample shower and closet space. Neighborhood was a true gem. Room was just as pictured, comfy & clean! Walking distance to restaurants and a nice local natural-foods grocery store. She even lent us fold-up chairs to take to the festival. We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed every minute. Portland is a great city! Lots to do and see! Hiked and went to Cannon Beach also...gorgeous areas!!! We'd visit and stay here again, and again, and again....

    Yvonne2014-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • It was a very pleasant surprise to find Jere's place. From picking fresh blueberries in the garden in front of the house to fantastic historic Dawson park, walking distance from her home. The shower was another treat where my wife and I could comfortably enjoy washing each others back. It is huge. And if you appreciate quite this is the place for you.

    Thomas & Diane2014-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • The space was absolutely gorgeous on the inside, the private entrance was a huge plus, and the accommodations included everything that a typical hotel room would. The host does sleep a bit earlier, so you shouldn't check-in too late in the evening. I will definitely try to book this residence again for my next Portland visit.

    Geoffrey2014-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • My stay in Jere's "Calm Retreat" was very nice. She decorated her place in such a wonderful way, it was calm & relaxing. So relaxing in fact, I didn't realize that I was in the wrong unit until 2 days later. I was actually booked for her "Private Haven" & went to the wrong room... Oops! Jere was so nice about it & accommodated me for my last night & not having me move. (that would explain why I could not locate the wine opener, lol!) - she had described to me where it was. I guess I travel too much that I didn't even recognize the differences between what I booked & where I was. My stay was a very comfortable, the location was great & I was able to park close. I will for sure be back, maybe even in the right room this time. Thanks Jere for being so wonderful! I hope to meet you next time & have a good laugh over a glass of wine.

    Dianne2016-10-28T00:00:00Z

A quiet, cozy bedroom & bathroom on the ground floor of a beautiful, modern new home in a verdant, friendly Southeast Portland neighborhood. Enthusiastic greeting by very friendly dogs & cat comes standard!
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE REQUESTING ACCOMMODATION. As a courtesy to our guests, our check-in time is 2:00 pm; however, as we both work weekdays, we cannot have the rooms ready until 5:30 or so. What this means is that our guests are welcome to make themselves at home in their living room or just drop their bags off and head out exploring, but they won't be able to rest their weary heads or hit the showers until we've had a chance to get home and tidy up. (PLEASE NOTE: This listing highlights the primary guest bedroom available, but for parties of 3 or 4 people, we do have a secondary bedroom that also features a queen-sized bed. If you are making a reservation for two people and you wish to book both bedrooms, PLEASE EXPLICITLY TELL US SO, as the default for two guests is ONE bedroom; for a two-guest reservation, the cost will be the listed room rate + $30/night. All guests share the same bathroom.) There is almost an entire floor available in our newish home smack-dab in the heart of fun, accessible Southeast Portland! This means that our guest(s) get not only their own quiet bedroom, but also a private full bathroom AND their own nicely-appointed living room (please note: the first-floor living room is NOT private, as it does not have a ceiling and is the way between the front door of the house and the stairs to the second floor). We are steps away from a frequent-service bus line, a terrific sandwich shop that's open for breakfast, lunch AND dinner, a pizza joint, a Starbucks, and, best of all, a Trader Joe's! The house is about two miles south of the trendy Hawthorne district, one mile south of nationally-recognized Division Street, and about four miles east of downtown Portland. The house itself is a beautiful, soaring Doug Fir- and hemlock-constructed dream home decorated with one-of-kind glass art pieces and potted succulents. Our guests have access to our fabulous kitchen in addition to their own first-floor amenities. We have a very friendly housecat you will likely meet during your stay, but the guest bedroom and guest bathroom doors are kept closed for the comfort of allergen-sensitive guests. We also have two friendly dogs who will greet you eagerly upon your arrival, but who otherwise spend their time hanging out with us and don't wander much to the guest floor. Lastly, to our guests during the colder months: the guest floor tends to be the coolest in the house, and we provide space heaters and afghans for your comfort, but we figure we should let you know ahead of time that if you run cold, ours may not be the ideal place for your stay.
Our neighborhood is so great! We are really close to several cool Portland hubs, but we're on a relatively quiet residential street so we truly have the best of all worlds.
  • Of the 3 places we stayed in on our first trip away using Air BnB, the urban treehouse was our favourite experience! Becca and Brad were very friendly, welcoming and thoughtful (though we didn't see them too much), their place was excellent value and generally well located, and the home itself is just beautiful! Very sparkly clean, comfortable with high spec features and relaxing surroundings with beautiful plants. Also, not far from the bus stop, and a great key 'exchange' system that means they don't have to be in when you 'check in'. I really can't fault it, and would recommend unreservedly! Thank you.

    Ming Wai2013-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Brad & Becca were incredibly nice and accommodating. Our trip plans were delayed at the last minute and we ended up coming in rather late on our check-in night. They made sure everything was ready and welcoming for us when we arrived. The home is beautiful and feels very open and inviting. Loved the hand crafted map of Portland and guidebook and both the cat and dog came to visit us at different points during our stay. Unfortunately we didn't get to see much of our hosts, due to our busy schedule that weekend, but all our interactions with them were warm and friendly. We'd definitely stay there again next time we're in Portland, if they'd have us!

    Adrian2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay here. The hosts really made us feel welcome. Hopefully, we can come back soon and stay at this place.

    Dee2013-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • A very beautiful home in a great neighborhood. Brad was most welcoming when we arrived and gave us great suggestions on places to explore. It was a fun neighborhood to walk around in with lots of shops & restaurants. We enjoyed the sandwich shop that Brad recommended. Fabulous. Our space was a little less private than I imagined from description. In the evening, we could hear every word of their private conversation from our sitting area. We felt a little odd ....but this was our first airb&b experience & others might not feel ill at ease by this. Was impressed with how freely Brad & Becca share their home as they both leave early in the morning for work.

    Marion2013-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I had a great stay with Brad and Becca. They have a beautiful home with a great layout for guests. It is extremely close to public transportation in a nice area. They were the perfect host. We would stay here again,

    Chris2013-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • I love love love how B & B have set up their BnB! The first floor (bed, bath, sitting area) are reserved for their guest. Second floor (kitchen, dining, living) is shared. Third floor is their private space. They are enthusiastic hosts, helpful and attentive. On this trip I barely had time to grab a food cart meal and get a good night's sleep. I hope to return another time, when I might have a bit more time to enjoy the space and their hospitality.

    Don2014-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • What a great home. Very friendly individuals and very well trained pets. My stay was short, but my time there was exceptional. Definitely a place I'd go back to !

    Kristen2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Brad and Becca welcomed us into their super cool home and made us feel very comfortable. The accommodations and the location were perfect. I'm very happy we found this one.

Light-filled, private 2 story apartment, parking in the driveway, two major bus lines, walking distance to restaurants/bars, shopping & grocery. Separate office area, high-speed internet, great for business travel.
A well-stocked gourmet kitchen, lots of windows to let light in (blackout shade in bedroom to help you sleep!), new comfy pullout sofa, full size washer & dryer, courtyard space outside to chill out, park in the driveway right next to the apartment
The Albert Arts neighborhood has award-winning restaurants, bars and shopping all within walking distance. The apartment is on a major bus line that can get you where you need to go quickly.
  • This place was great! Perfect for two couples and both beds are more than sufficient - one is a foldout (but a nice one) and the other in the bedroom is a double (close to a queen). The upstairs space is easily manipulated for a variety of activities. The outside we didn’t use because of wet weather. Overall we’d stay here again as we got great value for what we paid - you should too!

  • Clean, quiet, kind host. Especially perfect house condition.

    Hyungmin2018-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place to stay! Clean and modern. Best air bnb we’ve stayed at thus far for a great price.

  • We loved our recent stay. It is a great quiet space (there were 2 of us), great location NE of Portland making city trips easy and adventures to Mt Hood easy as well. Cool neighborhood with awesome bungalows, great restaurants , shops and bars just a few blocks away on Almeda. Kitchen had great amenities and we ate many meals at “home.” Would definitely recommend this place!!!

  • Excellent place to stay in Portland. Very clean with a nice kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. Would highly recommend.

  • We had a perfect stay at Tommy's place for a weekend in Portland visiting family and friends. The place is very beautiful, spacious, comfortable, clean, and private. It's super close to all our favorite spots on Alberta Street and just an all around a great place to stay as a hub for a trip to Portland. I especially loved the Portland touches in decor and reading material. For us, it was a weekend in our old neighborhood that definitely felt like home. I'd highly recommend it!

    Christina2017-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay at! Good, quiet neighborhood, but also lots of cool places nearby. Tommy was quick to respond to any questions or requests we had. Would definitely recommend staying here if you are heading to Portland.

This home is clean, quiet, creative and perfectly situated for an amazingly rich and convenient Portland experience. With a comfortable Queen bed (fits 2), wood floors, ample closet space, garden views and adjacent shared bathroom, you'll feel right at home. Please note that we ask our guests to limit bathroom visits to 15 minutes (especially in the morning) as this space shares a bathroom with an additional Airbnb room. Full access to kitchen, living room with fireplace, and landscaped garden patio with raised beds and seating. The home is full of plants and art from around the world. No pets/Allergen free! The Mississippi St. district is the place to be! Amazing restaurants, food carts, bars, breweries and stellar music venues are literally a minutes walk from the front door. NOT an easy place to get bored! Parking is easy in this safe neighborhood. The MAX light rail system has a stop just minutes away (walking) that can shoot you downtown or drop you off from the airport. Please note that our close proximity to the I-5 freeway does provide some background noise (not really noticeable inside the house). PLEASE NOTE: Arthur and Adam live in an adjacent building on the property. Audra is our house manager and good friend - and lives on the top floor of this home.
Portland's Historic Mississippi District is definitely where you want to stay when visiting the city. A gorgeous and funky stretch full of great shops, award-winning restaurants, an incredible music venue and amazing bars with outdoor patios and inspiring craft cocktails. SUPER easy to get to other parts of the city from here too!
  • Beautiful home! Well decorated with interesting pieces. We had a little hiccup on the first night but we texted them and they were right on it. Great time!

    Stephanie2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first time using Airbnb and Adam and Arthur made the experience so wonderful! Their home is immaculate and decorated flawlessly. They post cute signs everywhere for tips on how things in the house work and pointers to make sure the guests are comfortable. It's in a nice location for exploring the city, and the coziest place to come back to at night. I would recommend Adam and Arthur as hosts to everyone.

    Chelsea2015-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • This space is fantastic! Adam and Arthur are wonderful host and if I’m ever in Portland again, I will be staying here for sure!

    Patrick2018-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very beautiful simple artistic home. Great smelling towels simple warm easy to relax in.

    Barbara Jeanne2015-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Natalie & Adam's home was a beautiful place to stay during our Portland vacation. It was very accessible to major public transportation and all the destinations that we had wanted to see, not to mention the wealth of locations simply within walking distance. Despite the snow, their home was cozy and warm the whole day through. As our hosts, Natalie & Adam always made sure to reach out to see if we needed anything. This location comes highly recommended!

    Ryan2014-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house and the neighborhood were great. Super clean and comfortable. Would love to come back next time I am in PDX.

    Todd2014-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Adam & Natalie were great hosts! I would recommend this place to everyone. The house looks like an Anthropologie ad, it's simply beautiful. Great neighborhood with lots of restaurants and cute shops.

  • This home is what dreams are made of. So insanely beautiful. perfectly decorated, and very clean. Magic Barn, circa 1936, former sculpture studio restored by community artists with old growth barn wood, up-cycled furnishings, kitchen, claw foot bath, baby amenities, with a sculpture garden. Centrally located in the heart of a charming restaurant and boutique district; 3 blocks to both SE Hawthorne and Division St. 15 minutes to both the airport and downtown, there are 4 bus stops and rental bikes within 3 blocks, and ample street parking on our block. Natural cleaning products only.
Built with Love! Cannabis is legal in Oregon. You are welcome to responsibly smoke tobacco and cannabis outside only. There are many dispensaries within walking distance. We are permitted by the city of Portland to host ten guests at the Magic Barn and The Magic House which are adjacent. If you are a group of more than two, please send us an inquiry to see if we can accommodate the needs of your group. Family amenities are available upon request: portable crib, baby bath, high chair, etc. From 2000 to 2015 the Magic Barn was Todji's sculpture studio. Most of the sculptures in the sculpture garden were designed right here and are exhibited for everyone to experience. When Todji first moved into the main house as a renter, the Magic Barn was a crooked shed with broken windows, no electricity, water or heat and was filled with trash. Todji improved it and then purchased the property in 2004 when banks were giving loans to anybody, including self-employed emerging artists. Todji rented rooms to other artists while restoring the old house for fifteen years, while building a career as a fine art sculptor. During the summer of 2015 Todji designed and built the Magic Barn with the talented carpenters and fine art painters Theo Holdt and TJ Ravenwolf. The interior wood siding are salvaged old growth barn planks, and the ceiling is made of the original 1936 rafters and sheathing. Look at the outside walls to see the twist in the structure! TJ’s painting is hanging above the couch. TJ is native American from the Alaskan tribes of Koyukon Athabaskan and Muscogee Creek. TJ collected all of the natural pigments in the painting from areas around Oregon in prayer, and his prayer in painting now graces the Magic Barn. Todji and Gisele produce public art bronze sculpture monuments for US cities which you may already have seen, or that you may see one day. We employ local artists to do the cleaning and maintenance work at The Magic Barn and Magic House. Thank you for taking the time to read our story!
The Magic Barn is centrally located in one of the most charming and hip neighborhoods in Portland. With the center of both SE Hawthorne and SE Division St within 3 blocks, there is an abundance of restaurants, boutique browsing, grocery stores, neighborhood strolling, and park hiking options within walking distance. See a movie, or just step in to witness the beautiful and iconic McMenamin's Bagdad theater, accompanied by an incredible restaurant/bar/pool hall in the back called the "Back Stage Bar", at SE 37th and Hawthorne. It will give you a feel for classic Portland! We are minutes from Mt Tabor park which has a lovely forest with walking trails sitting upon a dormant volcano, and we are 45 minutes to the spectacular 600 foot tall Multnomah waterfall in the gorgeous Columbia River Gorge scenic area. Division is the new up and coming Southeast neighborhood. With lots of modern architecture, new restaurants and shops you will get a feel for the freshest vibe Portland has to offer. Here is a list to get you started: Restaurants: (The options are endless but here are a few popular favorites!) Serving Food Late - Sapphire Hotel at 50th and Hawthorne, Romantic and sexy atmosphere- great for late night drinks and gourmet bar food. Stumptown Coffee Roasters- 45th and Division, Classic Great Portland Coffee Trinket- One block away on Lincoln and 39th, great for Brunch with their locally sourced eggs!) Harlow- 36th and Hawthorne, Hip and Healthy, great for lunch, or fresh veggie juice. Por Que No- 46th and Hawthorne, Wildly popular Mexican with a great playful decor. (Don’t be intimidated by the line, you order at the counter, and then get a seat and your order will be out in no time) Pok Pok- 32nd and Division, There are literally 11 Thai restaurants in walking distance, but Pok Pok is the best. Began as a food cart, but grew into a Restaurant Empire. Worth the wait. Bollywood Theater- 30th and Division, Indian food small plates. Also along line but worth it! Salt and Straw- 33rd and Division, Food Networks top five ice creams! Super Popular! Lauretta Jeans- 34th and Division, Breathtaking Pies! Tidbit Food Cart Pod, 28th and Division, Fabulous food cart selection, lots of seating, including a beer garden and vintage clothing bus. A truly Portland experience. Hiking: The website of "Friends of the Columbia Gorge" has detailed information about many hikes in the scenic and nearby Columbia River Gorge. It is a 45 minute drive from here to enter the gorge. Below are the names of hikes that we love and recommend. Check the website to find a hike with a distance and fitness level that suits you. For those who are visiting the gorge for the first time, I recommend visiting the most spectacular, and also the most touristicated, 600 foot Multnomah Falls. For those who want a challenging half day hike you can begin at Multnomah Falls and hike a loop called the Franklin Ridge Loop. Multnomah Falls /Franklin Ridge Loop Eagle Creek Angels Rest Bridal Veil Falls Triple Falls Wahkeena Falls Groceries, Pharmacy and Shopping: New Seasons- Local Health Food Store (40th and Hawthorne) Fred Meyers- Local Department/Grocery store (Cesar Chavez and Hawthorne) Rite Aid Pharmacy- Drugstore/pharmacy (Cesar Chavez and Division) Powell’s Books- A smaller version of Portland’s famous Bookstore (37th and Hawthorne) Gold Door- Wonderful Imports from around the world (37th and Hawthorne) Enjoy!
  • I could not have asked for a more perfect place to get away. It felt as if I was far away in a log cabin deep in the woods. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the fireplace was magnificent. It was in the perfect location to groceries, shops and restaurants. Hobie was super accommodating and responded instantly to all my queries. I will be back!

    Paul2018-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at the wonderful Magic Barn. It was perfectly equipped and spotless. The sculpture gallery is a beautiful wake up spot for inspiration, with a cup of tea or coffee. Todji and Tessa were there to answer our questions.

    Virginia2015-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed one night in the Magic Barn at the end of a road trip and loved it! The suite is beautiful and clean. It was easy to find and there is free street parking around the corner on a side street. The bed was very comfy. We wished we had spent more than one night so we could use the cute kitchen (ate fantastic food out instead). The community around the barn was our favorite part of Portland - fun, vibrant, eclectic, great food, and lots to see. The only downside was the barn is off a main street so we could hear some street traffic at night- not bad and it is a city experience. Overall fantastic! We would stay here again

    Rachel2015-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great, worked out perfect for my short trip back to Portland to spend time with family and friends. Had everything I needed and felt like if anything had been lacking I would have been able to reach out without a problem. Would stay again!

  • Thank you for a wonderful experience! We had an amazing time

    Chris2018-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Magic Barn was the perfect place to stay - walkable to SE Hawthorne, beautiful and quiet. We had everything we needed and it was wonderful to have the fireplace linked right to the thermostat - it silently went on and off all night keeping us toasty the whole time we were there, even when it was snowing outside. Being a Portland native, I usually have to revisit my old favorite restaurants when I am back in town, but this time we went to two places recommended by Todji, Gisele and Tessa (the Sapphire Hotel and Trinket). Both were fabulous. Thank you so much! We can't wait to return.

    Stacey2015-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay! Neighborhood was wonderful and the barn was exactly as pictured. We had a great week and would definitely stay again.

  • I couldn't ask for a better place to stay in Portland. It truly felt like home away from home. The place is cozy, cute, and stylish with lots of amenities (washer/dryer!) and a supremely comfortable bed. (Seriously, I had one of the best nights of sleep here.) It's a close walk to tons of trendy restaurants and boutiques, as well as a Powell's. The neighborhood itself is quiet and lovely and I enjoyed some nice walks. Sari was a FABULOUS host--she answered all my questions very quickly and was very accommodating.

  • Ed & Sari were wonderful hosts. Very helpful yet nonintrusive. The unit was very clean, cozy, and accurately described. It is located in a charming and lively neighborhood... and only minutes from downtown. We had a great stay!

  • Beware of petty upcharges. We thought that we had a great stay at Sara's place until after leaving she charged us extra for a minisule stain on a towel that we were in no way responsible for.

    Vanessa2018-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a cute, tiny house! Easy parking, easy in/out, good location! Absolutely enjoyed our stay at Sara's! Such a sweet host!

    Lora2017-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sara's place is one of my favorites. It is a tiny space but not too tiny. Enough space to not feel closed in. The windows allows tons of light in that even when it is rainy there is light. It has everything you need- shower, kitchen, even a bluetooth speaker which makes it a home away from home 100%.

    Nancy2018-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Sara’s tiny house was perfect for our stay in Portland. It wasn’t too far from downtown, the house was clean and cozy and it was really nice coming home to after a long day of exploring. Would definitely book again if I ever find myself in Portland.

    Erik2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a cozy little bungalow! Sara was a great host. She had everything we could have needed. Great place to relax after long days of exploring. Walking distance to so many great places to eat and shop! The bed was slightly uncomfortable but still a 5 out of 5 with everything else!

    Emma2018-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for exploring Portland on foot - the neighborhood had many food options and coffee shops within walking distance. Very clean space with necessary amenities and a professional host.

    Emilie2018-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot! We were conveniently located to many restaurants, shopping and coffee! Sara was very easy to communicate with and our stay was absolutely perfect!

    Kimberly2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • This a wonderful tiny home next to all the cool things to do in Portland! Sara was an amazing host that provided quick responses and a charming space to rest our heads. Will definitely book again when we are in the area!

  • Paul was super nice and accommodating! The space is really cute and looks just like the photos with many thoughtful touches. The only slightly confusing thing is whether or not this is actually an "Entire home/apt". Since there is no separate entrance to the suite and you go through the main house. After re-reading the house info it does say you can request him not to be there during your stay but that seems kind of strange if it's advertised as the whole home. Either way I would totally stay there again and Paul was great and has a fast response time!!!

    Mira2016-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was awesome! The space was perfect and worked great for what we needed. It was only a 10 minute Uber ride from the heart of downtown or a half hour walk. Perfect location, perfect place.

    Connor2016-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely place! Paul was a great host. The location is awesome and close to both downtown Portland and the airport.

    Taylor2016-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Really awesome place to stay in Portland! Loved the location of Funky Pad as well as the place itself! Super easy to get on the freeway from here. Paul was really chill and very friendly. The apartment was very clean and spacious. I would definitely stay here again when I come back to Portland. Thanks for an awesome stay!

    Alice2014-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was an awesome welcoming host. The room looks just like it does in the pictures. It was crystal clean. Paul thought through everything when putting this room together. Anything you need is there. The space was very private. It was also easy to get to downtown Portland by bus from there and there is a beautiful park across the street. The next time I come to Portland, I'm definitely staying with Paul...if the place is available.

    Jullien2014-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was really welcoming, kind, and a great communicator. The space is really sweet and comfortable. Very clean-- and its clear they had fun setting it up for visitors. Super cute. One thing to note though, is that this is the upstairs of a home, and does not have a separate entrance, or a door that locks. Therefore you walk through Paul's house to get to the upstairs space. He was very respectful of our privacy, but this could make some folks uncomfortable.

    Aura2016-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Paul's place was awesome. Super private space and it's even bigger than it looks! Every thing you would want in an Airbnb

    James2017-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Paul was an awesome host and very helpful in giving tips to getting around Portland and letting us know what was close by. His house was in walking distance to a lot of great restaurants and breweries and there was a park right near where we could take our dog to walk, which was a huge plus!

  • This is such a beautifully designed and comfortable space! It's full of thoughtful aesthetic touches, and plenty of amenities that add extra comfort and convenience. Check-in was simple and instructions and communication were clear. My partner and I spent most of our time exploring the city so we didn't truly get to take advantage of all of the amenities, but it was great coming home to this place with all of its style and comfort. An easy walk to some great bars and shops as well. Would love to return!

    Marissa2018-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The location is perfect! Alberta is the place you want to be. Lots of local bars and restaurants walking distance from this place. The apartment was adorable and had everything you could possibly need!

  • Wow! What a gorgeous space! Loved every minute and wish I could’ve stayed longer! Melissa was so sweet and welcoming. The neighborhood is super cute and only 10 minutes from the airport, which was great as we had a very early morning flight. Easy walking distance from Tamale Boy and Tough Luck, which I recommend both!

    Julia2018-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • It was everything as advertised and more. Great and easy stay.

    Pat2017-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa’s space is easily one of the most adorable abnb’s! Clean, spacious and wonderfully situated for spending time in Portland. Check in and out were a breeze, we slept great in the snuggly bed and enjoyed fresh coffee and tea in the mornings. Thanks again for two lovely nights!

I'm offering a comfortable clean bedroom in the best neighborhood in Portland. Self check in so late night arrivals are no problem. On all major bus lines. New Seasons market one block away and 20+ restaurants in a 15 block radius. Free street parking. LGBTQ friendly. 3 small dogs live here so if you don't love dogs, this is not the place for you.
I'm offering a bedroom in my four bedroom home on the main floor right next to the shared bathroom. The bed is a comfy queen size. My home has a back porch with a cozy deck for eating breakfast and sipping coffee and a picnic area under the arbor for dinner and relaxing. The dogs can be a bit intense, but Rocky is always down for a head scratch.
Dozens of excellent restaurants within walking distance of the house. Two grocery stores within 4 blocks. Major bus lines will take you downtown in ten minutes. Our neighborhood is quiet and clean in the heart of Portland's biking community. We're also within walking distance to the Aladdin Theater so come see a show while you're here!
  • Kara es muy amable y siempre dispuesta a ayudarte. El vecindario esta muy bonito y de fácil acceso Kara nos presto sus bicicletas para poder movernos en la ciudad.

  • We had a good time here. Lovely home, great location, friendly hosts.

    Peter2015-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • The place is in an excellent location! I was able to walk around the neighborhood to find cute local shops and amazing food. Also very close to a bus that runs right into downtown. Kara was really kind and accommodating. Staying with her really made my trip to Portland great :)

  • Kara was an excellent host! From the start, we were welcomed by her cousin and made to feel at home. Kara is a lovely, fun personality to talk to, and the room is sparkling clean and extremely comfortable. The neighborhood is excellent to, within walking distance to many, many great restaurants.

    Liz2016-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • excellent facilities for a very reasonable price! the hosts were warm and helpful, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable!

    Jesse2014-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Kara was an extremely thoughtful, fun, and helpful host. I only wish I could have stayed longer. My friend and I booked last minute and she was very communicative. I love her house (beautifully designed, clean, and bright) and especially her three amazing dogs! She's a fabulous person and anyone would be lucky to meet her and stay in her gorgeous neighborhood and room for rent.

    Emma2014-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great time at Kara's place - it was clean, warm, and inviting! Unfortunately we never got to meet Kara as we arrived late and left early but the communication was prompt and there were instructions in the room regarding our stay. Her dogs are extremely cute! The bedroom is next to the restroom so there's some noise at times. I'd definitely recommend this affordable place in Portland and would go back!

    Vivien2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I stayed here during our one night in Portland as part of a road trip up the coast. The house was easy to find and in an AMAZING neighborhood. We walked around everyone and had a great time. The dogs are a bit loud so definitely not a place for anyone who is not a dog person. The room was super clean and the Kara was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again!

Our home is beautifully situated across from a quiet park. We are located just a couple blocks walk to restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques and bus stops on trendy Hawthorne and Division streets.
Our one bedroom, 500 square-foot basement apartment is lovingly decorated in the Northwest Style with touches of Scandinavia. The apartment has separate entrance for your privacy. The bedroom has a queen bed with cozy, fluffy featherbed comforters. The living room has a sofa that converts to double bed with bedding provided. We also have a queen futon available for parties over 4 people. It’s a bit tight for 6 people, but it is possible! We have a little kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker with complimentary coffee. The bathroom has a bath/shower combo with all the essentials provided. We have a television that picks up a few stations, but we do not have cable. Our location is ideal for foodies who want to walk to popular restaurants on SE Hawthorne and SE Division streets. We are directly across the street from a park. The Hawthorne bus (#14) is just 1.5 blocks away and will get you downtown within 10 minutes. We also are walking distance to grocery stores, movie theaters, shops, breweries and pubs. Our neighborhood is quiet at night, so we ask that there be no noise after 10:00pm. We are an early-to-bed, early-to-rise family (up at 5:00am) so you may hear us above in the morning.
We are ideally situated between the popular Hawthorne and Division streets. We are 2.5 blocks from the nearest bus stop and are walking distance to shops, restaurants, grocery stores, movie theaters. Best of all we are located right across the street from a park. There is ample parking as well.
  • Great place to stay in a central inner east side neighborhood. The bathroom was my favorite - beautifully decorated - and I was excited to take a bath since I no longer have one at home. It was a bit tricky getting into the house as the step is quite large to go up and I'm an older lady but did it OK. I would stay again. Thank you!

  • Jennifer's place was perfect for our weekend trip to Portland. She had a nice apartment that was comfortable and looked like it was recently renovated.

    Brandon2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer's space was very clean, quaint and private. Perfect spot to retire to from the bustling of the city. Thanks again for letting us stay!

    Jake2018-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely space Jennifer has! Communication was quick and clear, access was easy and the place itself was clean & comfortable! I’d stay here again in a heartbeat! Thank you Jennifer!

    Jessica2018-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer’s place is quite nice and well-located in the funky cool Hawthorn area. The one thing that we were challenged by was being too cold from the AC that we had little control over. We had to run a heater to make the space comfortable.

    Caren2018-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our two night stay. Apartment looked better then the pictures. It was very clean and we had enough space to store our luggage. Havibg a washing machine and a dryer was a big bonus: after traveling around for more then a week, we were happy to do some laundry. By foot and bus, it took us 30 minutes to get downtown (2.50 each, no change), but we mainly stayed close to the house, Division St and Hawthorne St were the best for eating, drinking and watching the locals. One thing to keep in mind: the apartment upstairs is rented sometimes and you can hear these guest's footsteps and talking. Not a problem, just something you should know. Would definitely return, highly recommended!

    Femke2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great bargain with good location

    Willie2018-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer's place is perfect for a Portland stay. The apartment is spacious and bright with great facilities. It was also immaculately clean and tidy. Location wise it's only a 5-10min walk to a host of cool restraunts, coffee shops and bars or breweries and taprooms. Jennifer was very contactable and provided clear instructions. On hand if needed and not intrusive in anyway. A great stay and host

  • Robert's home was absolutely amazing! We loved the beautiful space and wished we could've stayed longer! The bed was ultra comfortable which made it difficult for us to leave and see Portland! Everything about our stay was miles above staying in a hotel. So if you're on the fence, I would highly recommend staying here! Thanks Robert, and thanks for making our trip to Portland such an enjoyable one!

    Alpha Joy2018-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend Roberts place! Its a wonderful studio set up and even though its connected to Roberts home, theres a lot of privacy. Its the perfect location for exploring Portland. It was so clean and Robert was so welcoming and had clear check in and check out instructions! Really couldn’t say enough positive things about this place!!!! Thanks again, Robert!

    Megan2018-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here at Robert's place this past weekend and were honestly blown away. It was extremely private, easy to access and in an amazing location (a less than five dollar lyft ride to Historic Mississippi) Since this is a private studio, it almost feels as though you are staying at an actual hotel... but so much better. The place was so clean and was very modern, but with fun character. If you are planning on spending time in Portland and want a nice quiet retreat to lay your head at you NEED to stay here. Thanks again Robert for the amazing Airbnb experience.

    Zach2018-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was beautiful, cozy, and fully furnished. There were extra towels and blankets, a nice touch! A little far out from downtown Portland, but there’s plenty of transportation options. I highly recommend this place.

  • Robs place is excellent, your own private space and so convenient to the NE / NOPO. I highly recommend that you stay here, its better than a hotel. I stayed a month and didn't need anything, he has it all taken care of, if visiting Portland and really want a home away from home stay here. Great Job the space Rob

Seen on the TV show "Tiny House Nation", CNN, Food & Wine Magazine, and the NY Post, the 350 sq ft Rustic Modern Tiny House was designed and built by us, your friendly AirBNB hosts. Guests call it "completely charming" and "the perfect urban getaway". Welcome! M+J
For years we've been daydreaming about building a little house one day. Then we finally made it happen - using our own two hands (DIY! The Portland way!) and with the help of some great friends. We had a vision in mind, but a lot of the details came together as we built, based on what materials we had available to us. Downstairs is the kitchen, living room with convertible couch, and bathroom with tiny clawfoot tub. Access the upstairs via STAIRS (not a ladder), where you'll find our loft bedroom with comfortable queen sized bed. Sustainable design is important to us, and the house is constructed and furnished from an eclectic array of reclaimed materials - squirreled away over the years, and now creatively reused and repurposed. See photo captions for a detailed walkthrough of the house. A PARTIAL SNAPSHOT • The trim and shelves are reclaimed from an old shed that used to be on the property. • Teak hardwood flooring, cedar shake siding - salvaged from high-end construction jobs. • The wood-clad windows salvaged from a horse farm in the Oregon countryside. • The kitchenette stove/refrigerator sourced from the Hood River History Museum. Instagram: @rusticmoderntiny
We love our walk/bike friendly N. Williams Ave neighborhood - it's been getting a lot of media attention as one of Portland's hottest neighborhoods. You are one block from the main corridor, bustling with award-winning restaurants, bars, coffee shops, wine bars, bakeries, yoga studios, and indie boutiques - it seems there's something new every week. Sunset Magazine loves its “low-key urban vibe", past guests call our neighborhood "awesome", "amazing" and "full of things to do". Our street has even made an appearance or two on the TV show Portlandia.
  • Very sweet space. It was charming and felt like a home away from home. The Tiny House was a great point from which to base our explorations of Portland's neighbourhoods. It's very close to really great brunch restaurants, craft beer spots and cute boutique shops. We didn't get a chance to meet Jenny and Michael, but I spoke to Michael twice on the phone and he was friendly and helpful. They even bought a bike lock for us to use during our stay because they knew we were bringing our bikes! Both mornings we awoke to little birds chirping outside of the window and it really felt like we were in a country setting and not in the middle of a neighbourhood - very quiet and calm. My only small criticism (and it is very small!) was that it is chilly in the winter/early spring. This detail is mentioned in the description, so it wasn't a surprise and I had my fluffy sheepskin slippers. The space heaters warmed it up nicely and we actually brought one up into the sleeping loft to keep us cozy at night. Overall, a delightful stay in Portland for those looking for a clean, charming and unique spot (hotels are boring, right?)! Recommended.

  • Michael and Jenna created the perfect tiny house! Thank you so much for sharing this with us - we had a great couple of days in the beautiful city of Portland. The house is ideally situated in a really nice neighbourhood with loads of delicious food options and meets a traveller's every needs. The city center is only a short bus ride away. Thank you again for having us!

  • Extremely neat little place - It was a perfect size for 2 people. It is as it looks in the pictures. Michael and Jenna were quick at responding to messages and checked in with us during our stay to make sure everything was okay. Would definitely recommend to my friends.

    Winnie2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for three days in the tiny house and it was a pleasure. The house has so much character, and the kitchen had everything I needed to make a nice breakfast. We are hoping to build ourselves a tiny house in the future. My sister's house was only a 20 minute walk, so we felt like real Portlanders for three days! We enjoyed the restaurants that were near by, especially the ice cream place! We hope to come back next year!

    Dana2013-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed for a week in the tiny house. it was perfect for all of my needs. I had great sleeps as the bed was comfortable. twits only a block away from Williams, which has many good bars and restaurants. the closest grocery store is just a 10 min walk away- perfect! Michael and Jenny are wonderful communicators and hosts. I highly recommend staying here! :)

  • My fiancé and I had such a great time staying in this awesome little spot! It was private, tidy and unique. Michael and Jenna were wonderful hosts, very quick to respond and made us feel right at home.

  • I had a lovely stay at the tiny house. The location was perfect, a short walk to the office and a block away a street full of restaurants, bars, and coffee, but still quiet and private. The house had everything I needed. There's no extra space, but it's a comfortable spot nonetheless. The hosts responded to questions quickly with friendly notes.

Overall livability is excellent as public transport and bike lanes are accessible and convenient. In summary, there is: public transportation, retail, restaurants, markets, bakeries, parks, rose gardens, nightlife, theaters, and live entertainment within walking distance and/or a few minutes ride.
  • Upon first arrival, the hosts and pup were there to greet us. All, very friendly and welcoming! The studio was truly great. It is perfect for one or two people - very cozy, clean and charming. Overall, a really great space and hope to be back again!

  • Kurt and Nathalie's is amazing. The perfect size studio!! Great location, close to the city center, but not in a loud area. Great for getaway!

    Victoria2017-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Would recommend to anyone looking to stay in Ladd's addition! The heated floors were awesome.

    Tekla2017-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Kurt and Nathalie were fantastic hosts and the studio was absolutely perfect for our trip to Portland! It was fully stocked with everything we could have needed and was within a couple minutes walk to great food, fun bars and cool shops! A bonus perk, the #4 bus stops just a block away from the studio so getting into downtown Portland was super easy.

    Katya2015-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • When we arrived in Portland it was snowing so first thing I noticed when we walked in the door, besides the lovely decor, was the radiant floor heat. Very cozy! The studio has lots of light but even the skylights have window coverings should you prefer it a bit less bright. The provided breakfast options were much appreciated and quite delicious! Having a fully stocked pantry was also nice. In short, we loved staying here and will book again in the future.

    Charlotte2018-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved my stay at Kurt and Nathalie's place. The studio itself was incredibly comfy and cozy - obviously new and very clean. The perfect size for one or two people. The hosts also provided everything I needed and more - the basic amenities plus tea/coffee, oatmeal, shampoo/conditioner, and a welcome brochure that answered every question I could have had. Access to a washing machine was also a huge plus. The location was great as well. Easy to find and well situated close to restaurants, cute shops etc. and an easy drive to downtown. Also appreciated that while I knew the hosts were accessible if needed, they left me to come and go as I pleased. Overall great and would highly recommend to anyone visiting the Portland area.

  • This is a lovely property, the best Air B and B that I've stayed in--it's a very well designed and cozy mother-in-law apartment and it was perfect for two. And it was absolutely spotless. We were there on a very cold couple of nights, and we were very comfortable. Kurt and Nathalie generously provide you with bagels and a couple of eggs in the fridge, coffee, tea, some snacks in the pantry, and some fruit on the counter. They even sent a message apologizing for not having whole milk in the fridge, even though it was stocked with soy creamer and skim. So kind. The price is fantastic for what you get--the privacy, the little kitchenette, the cleanliness, the coziness. If you'll have us, we will likely be back!

    Carolyn2015-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing spot. We didn't have a chance to meet our hosts but felt very welcomed. Having a parking spot was a definite perk as our rig while traveling on business is somewhat unwieldy to park on neighborhood streets. The cottage was adorable, comfortable, and the care that Kurt and Nathalie took to make sure any need we may have had was so appreciated. The house manual was very useful. I loved the part about Myrna and how she loves to tell her life story, and it helped us enjoy the space more comfortably and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee in the morning. I also appreciated the quality of linens, consumables, and other items available around the home - not to mention the assorted books and trail guides available. The only part I was sad about was not needing to stay in Portland a week so we could have explored some of the trails and come back to this spot every day. :) Just perfect.

Featured in the NY Times! This gorgeous custom home is the biggest little house on the block with raw wood throughout, a chefs kitchen, and a bed you won't want to leave. In the heart of Alberta you're a short walk from food, drink, parks and art.
This home was expertly designed and built by our family and completed in 2013. The southern window wall attracts frequents admirers from the street, and bathes the home in a warm glow. We built our home with food in mind, and the kitchen is well stocked with a five burner gas range, tons of butcher block counter space and big island for all your portland inspired culinary adventures. You're just a short walk from farmers markets and New Seasons, our exceptional local grocery store. Throughout the home you'll find exposed Doug Fir, Walnut, Oak and Cherry and a Jotul wood stove to keep you warm at night. The sofa bed turns in to a comfortable queen sized bed for additional guests.
Alberta Arts offers a wonderful mix of quiet streets and family homes with easy walking access to exceptional restaurants, bars, theaters, grocery stores, and coffee shops. The home is on Going Street, which is one of portland's "bike boulevards" optimized for biking around the city without heavy interaction with car traffic.
  • We had a great time and James and Kyra's place! The house was charming, comfortable, and within walking distance of a lot of great shops and restaurants. Thanks for helping to make our Portland trip a wonderful one!

    Lauren2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at James and Kyra's cottage - loved everything about it. The bed was super comfortable, the bathroom and kitchen had everything we needed, and not having to worry about losing a key was also fabulous! The location was great - walking to the grocery store, or down to the restaurants on Alberta was so easy and felt very safe. And 15 minutes from the airport (I think it was actually 13!) when we had to leave - :( - was nice too. You did such a great job building this place, we felt very lucky to be able to enjoy it too. We intend to come back, as there's so much left to explore, and when we do, we'll be hoping your place is available!

    Kirsty2015-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • This house was beautiful and so we'll designed. We immediately felt at home. I would absolutely recommend this place to any other travelers.

    Jared2017-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • What luck! Our first AirBnB experience and we snagged this place at the last minute. Incredible location to walk to Alberta and all the fabulous establishments on this street. Bicycle heaven. James nailed it with his Tapas bar recommendation--took us back to Madrid and Plaza Mejor.

    Jack2017-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • James is an incredible, thoughtful host. Would definitely recommend and stay with him again. Thank you!

    Evan2018-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place to stay! Great experience

    John2017-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • James is a great communicator, which was really appreciated. We exchanged a few texts and emails leading up to the stay at his place, and he offered recommendations and tips about the area. The home itself is beautiful and comfortable, very clean and surprisingly spacious inside. They kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need, and we felt right at home instantly. You can tell that a lot of thought was put into making their guests feel comfortable. James and his lovely wife, Kyra, knocked on the door shortly after we arrived to introduce themselves and made it clear that we could call on them if we needed anything at all. They are the perfect hosts: there if you need them, but out of sight on the other side of a privacy fence otherwise. We had two great nights sleep on the SUPER comfy bed, and loved how close it is to some of our favorite spots on Alberta. I can't recommend this home enough, and my wife and I are looking forward to another stay here in the near future.

This 3rd floor loft is located in the N. Williams District, on a main bike route, across the street from a bus stop, close to the street car and light rail. It is an eclectic 900 sqft self contained unit with amazing views on the top floor of a 1900's Victorian. This stretch of Williams Ave has a more industrial feel but we are just a few blocks from eateries & libations. Walk to the Convention Center, Moda Center and the Pearl District.
-The view is amazing. -Efficiency style open kitchen with 2 stove top burners, toaster oven, french press, cookware, full dishware & glassware plus a real fridge with freezer. -comfy queen bed & nice Egyptian cotton sheets -new heating system with Air Conditioning! -2 wifi networks -a slew of information & maps on Portland & surrounding areas such as the Columbia Gorge, Oregon Coast, wine country etc. -Walk to the heart of the Williams District -Walk to the convention Center & Moda -Walk into the Pearl District (20min.)
Building on its reputation for bicycles, beers and brunch, the Williams District has evolved into a dynamic, must-see destination for locals and visitors alike. With its broad array of eateries, breweries, characters, shops and services, the district is a veritable composite of all the best Portland has to offer. The Williams District includes more than 150 businesses and is also defined by its rich cultural history. In the 1940s and ’50s, Williams Avenue was teeming with jazz clubs and speakeasies. Today located just down the street is the historic Billy Webb elks lodge. On a Friday or Saturday night it is not rare to sit on the deck and hear the DJ spinning.
  • The place was great and Tyra made everything super easy. Amazing views too! I'd definitely stay again.

    Keith2016-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Tyra was very professional in meeting out needs for access. With us on a road trip and unable to give definite times of arrival, we found that Tyra very amenable to our needs.

    John2015-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Our visit was very true to its description. We can't say enough to how beautiful and organized the loft was for our stay. Not to mention how close everything around us was. We found our way to Pearl and Alberta District that were within a 2 mile radius from our stay. Additionally, Tyra provided us with tea and snacks that was super thoughtful. The convenience and ease of the location made our stay in Portland comfortable and relaxing. Tyra was very accommodating to our questions and provide us with guidance on events in the area. She was great on every aspect of being a host and we plan on staying at this location again.

    Crystal2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was great. Tyra provided helpful direction, recommendations and was in communication leading up to and during our trip. The flat itself was as described. It had a great view, was tidy and an open space. There were snacks and comfy slippers waiting for us, as well as coffee and tea to help us get a kick start to the morning. The only complaint was that the Internet during our stay was spotty at best. For the price, accommodations and location I would happily recommend staying here. It definitely met our expectations during our weekend trip.

    Patrice2015-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot say enough good things about Tyra's place-- it was our favorite part of our week long trip through 3 different AirBnBs. Tyra communicated to us the whole time throughout check-in and everything was a breeze. The deck/view was incredible and the location was perfect for us, as we were interested in being away from most traffic so we could hop around to nearby touristy adventures like Multnomah Falls & Forest Park, but was just a quick walk and street car stop away from the heart of the Pearl District. The neighborhood itself had nearby coffee shops and amazing food options-- we were pretty much very touristy and followed suggestions like Pine State Biscuits and Voodoo Doughnuts from online trip sites and the like. However, Tyra went above and beyond to map out helpful things.. I'm talking pamphlets and binders galore! Any question you could possibly have could be answered by the materials she provides. She also left us some yummy beer and snacks, as well as a beautifully kept bathroom with some essential toiletries and extra nice touches like bath robes. The only negatives I could really say were the fact it was a few flights of stairs up, so would definitely be a struggle for an older couple or someone juggling a stroller and things like that. It felt like the hot water in the shower took a really long time to kick in, and also the floors were extremelyyy creaky. Even though we tried to tread quietly, we sort of felt like our every move was noisy and could be heard below. But for the time we actually spent within the space, these things weren't a big deal and definitely didn't outweigh all the great things. If we make it back to Portland, we'd love to stay at Tyra's again!

    Kathleen2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Nice quiet place conveniently located

    Mick2017-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for my needs. Tyra thinks of the little details (everything) to make your stay comfortable. The view is awesome, but a 6-story condo is going up next door. Sigh...

    Sage2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean & private. Floor is very squeaky which made it impossible to not have people below you know when you were moving around. Found myself tiptoeing so as to limit any noise & didn’t feel like I could walk around casually. It was in a convenient area and clean.

This space will make you feel cozy and right at home! A bright and well appointed tiny house located in Northeast Portland. Just steps from some of the best restaurants in all of Portland. The Alberta Arts district is just a few blocks away with cafes, pubs and local shopping. There are unique neighborhood amenities, such as the soaking pool and movie theater at the Kennedy School. For more photos and neighborhood info, visit: @portlandtinyhouse on Instagram.
We put a lot of love into Portland Tiny House. The space includes warm wood flooring, ceramic tiling, modern decor and special vintage touches. The house has a very comfortable Tuft and Needle queen sized bed, bathroom, kitchenette equipped for cooking light meals and cozy counter seating for two. Coffee, tea, fresh eggs and Portland travel guides provided. Need anything else?...just let us know! (2 guests with a small child may sometimes be accommodated)
Guests are a block away from Portland's most popular and notable restaurants: DOC, Beast, Autentica, Dame, Expatriate, Wilder and Yakuza Lounge. The house is within walking distance to the local New Seasons Market and the Alberta Arts District with shops/restaurants/art galleries and the hugely popular Last Thursday monthly arts festival. You certainly won't want to miss all of the wonderful shops and restaurants up on Alberta Street. There are many popular restaurants that often have a line to get in (yes...they are THAT good!) like Pine State Biscuits, Salt and Straw Ice Cream, The Grilled Cheese Grill and the Bollywood Theater. Lots of vegan dining as well: Vita Cafe, Back to Eden Bakery and the Bye and Bye Pub. So many wonderful options, we usually have a hard time deciding what to pick! Just around the corner: Walk a block up to enjoy hand-crafted morning coffee at Extracto or breakfast at Cup & Saucer. Drop in to take a yoga class at The People's Yoga studio. Hunt for fun vintage finds at Red Fox Vintage. Or you can explore the McMenamins Kennedy School: a historic elementary school re-purposed as a hotel (including a movie theater, soaking pool ($5 for a relaxing soak), restaurants and pubs). There are two parks within walking distance from the tiny house, Alberta Park and Fernhill Park. Peninsula Park is also a quick jaunt from the tiny house and it boasts a beautiful, seasonal rose garden that is often less crowded than the well known International Rose Test Garden in the West hills.
  • Dustin and Genevieve were incredible hosts during our stay. The house had everything we needed, and it was a short drive to the heart of Portland. We had a lovely stay, and highly recommend it!

    Erin2016-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Out of all the Airbnb's I've stayed in this is my favorite. I was a little nervous it would feel "tiny" but this home was the perfect getaway. An excellent amount of space that was so nicely decorated. I was also nervous about staying in a more suburban part of Portland but less than a block away are wonderful restaurants and a bike rental stand to quickly get anywhere you want to go. Having a wonderful little chicken coup next to the house was my favorite part. The fresh eggs went great with the French Press coffee provided in the unit.

    Louis2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house was perfect for us! It was super adorable and convenient. Loved every minute!

    Lauren2018-07-18T00:00:00Z

  • One of the most wonderful stays throughout our entire Oregon trip. Duston and Genevieve were attentive and incredibly friendly, making sure we had everything we needed at their tiny home. We adored having the chickens in the back yard and loved having our morning coffees alongside them! You will not regret booking this amazing home.

    Katie2018-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This tiny house was the perfect Portland pad for our weekend getaway! It's decorated amazingly, the location is in a fun and hip neighborhood, the chickens are adorable and cute to wake up to in the am and the hosts are a lovely family! We had such a great trip, we hope to come back again soon!

  • Hello Dustin and Guenevieve! I loved your tiny house. It is a great location and has very nice energy. I tried the people's yoga, which was fantastic and also the expatriate coffee shop, also wonderful. I loved the coffee you provided so much that I went and bought my own to bring home with me:)

Beautiful and well-designed suite located in the center of N/NE Portland's most trendy areas: Alberta Arts District; Mississippi Ave; and the Williams/Vancouver corridor (also referred to as the Boise Neighborhood). This space resembles a European flat -- clean lines, ergonomic, yet well-appointed in every way. The private entrance to this hip basement suite offers security, privacy and autonomy for my guests.
This AirBnB was finished in 2018 for the sole purpose of renting to Portland-bound travelers. It is conveniently located within walking distance of several fun and trendy shopping/dining districts, including Alberta Arts District; Mississippi Ave; and Williams/Vancouver Ave, while also remaining close (5-10 minute drive) to downtown and/or the Oregon Convention Center. The space offers a nice balance between 'functional' and 'comfortable'. Modern conveniences like a smart TV, free Wifi, fully-equipped kitchen, bluetooth speaker, smartcode locks, free on-street parking, and your own washer/dryer all add up to ensure that your stay is as enjoyable as possible. In addition, this space is completely separate from the main portion of my home, as guests enjoy total privacy and autonomy with the AirBnB-dedicated space (approx 450 sq feet).
This house is walking distance to Portland's famous Alberta Arts District; Mississippi Ave (Albina St turns into Mississippi); and the very trendy N. Williams Street corridor. It is a cultural melting pot -- the true Portland experience. To the north is one of Portland's oldest and most beautiful parks: Peninsula Park -- perfect for a picnic, walking your dog, taking in a summertime movie, or going for a jog. A few steps out your door, you will find myriad coffee shops, grocery stores, shops and restaurants. The flat is located just 15 minutes from Portland International Airport (PDX), and a quick 10 minutes to Portland’s downtown area.

  • This flat is a fantastic spot to have a great nights rest, easy and convenient to go all over Portland from there. It is awesome that dogs are allowed!! It’s a beautiful bright space and seemed to have everything you would need to stay for two nights or a week!! Thank you Ronda!

    Amelia2018-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Amenities and location were both great. I’d highly recommend Ronda’s spot to anyone visiting Portland!

    Chris2018-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Jameson, Wicket and I loved our stay at the Modern Alberta Flat. It was convenient to walk to shops and restaurants and easy to locate as it’s just right off the 5 freeway. Plenty of street parking and and safe well lit entry. Accommodations were clean, cozy and accurate to her listing. Ronda provided a binder with local tips that were very helpful. The flat is in the basement of home and is a beautiful secluded private space. One thing to note - if you are a light sleeper, you can hear the folks and dog upstairs. However, we would definitely stay here in the future. Thank you so much for your hospitality.

    Sara2018-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Rhonda's place is great! Really comfortable, pristine, got everything you need for a short or midterm stay in a great area. It even had a lovely flower in the bathroom. We'd love to stay there again.

    Dan2018-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • So zen and relaxing! The quiet muted decor was calm and so comfortable. We were on our honeymoon, camping and road-tripping from California to Portland and it was wonderful to take a shower in such a beautiful space, and have the in-unit laundry to help return ourselves to human form. The location is just fabulous- we walked to wonderful restaurants and bars, and also spent time just walking the neighborhood, even stumbled across the feminist bookstore from Portlandia which was fun. Parking was easy, and the check-in was easier than any hotel. 5 stars! Would definitely stay again when we're lucky enough to visit Portland again!

    Jon2018-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • My best friend and I absolutely loved our stay here! The downstairs had everything we could need; a coffee maker, washer dryer, big shower, stove, TV with Netflix. We were a short Uber drive from downtown. We felt very safe in the neighborhood. We'll definitely be back!

The "apartment" was very well done. Everything was clean. It was much more comfortable than staying in a hotel! Very easy access to the interstate from there as well.

Cute little Tiny House! It used to be our boys' fort when they were young, now it is a comfortable little retreat for adventurers exploring Portland!
Cute little back yard "granny flat" cottage located near Mt Tabor park in very desirable neighborhood! The cottage is "Portland Style" construction with excellent insulation (R30), new windows, etc.. Great host, free internet, parking, furnished living space that is quite private.. The cottage contains an upstairs bedroom & sitting area. Note: There are steep stairs, so please take that into account ~ if you have joint pain, etc. this might not be the best choice of places to stay... The QUEEN size mattress is new and comfortable. Downstairs there is a small kitchen with stove, microwave and under the counter fridge. Also downstairs is a full bath with ceramic tile shower. Coffee maker and freshly ground coffee provided in the cottage as well as complimentary muffins. At times a made to order hot breakfast is available, message me to see if it will be available during your stay :-D. Guests are welcome to use washer/dryer in main house. Guests have use of the back yard with fruit trees and some berries when in season. Also the cottage is within walking distance of Division street shops, Pizzicato pizza, the 52nd & Foster street Food Carts and much more. The # 4 bus is just a block and a half away, which can take passengers west directly downtown. The TRI-MET app or website is easy to use & can help you get you anywhere from the airport, to downtown, to Powells Books, The Chinese Garden, and so on.
South Tabor Neighborhood is a quiet eclectic little neighborhood with many avid gardners, friendly neighbors, and gobs of dog lovers. We have community get-togethers, work parties, and holiday celebrations! If you are used to neighborhoods where no one knows each other or even speaks to each other this is definitely NOT the neighborhood for you :-D
  • We enjoyed our stay at Lisa's utterly cozy, snug-as-a-bug cottage in near Mt. Tabor. We only wish we could have stayed a bit longer to enjoy the closeness of several parks. The location is also very near/ convenient to the Pok Pok empire on SE Division, the Woodsman, Salt-and-Straw and Stumptown Coffee, if you like good food. We were visiting Portland at a time of a cold spell, but Lisa's cottage had heaters in each of the 3 small areas, so we were very comfy and toasty-warm. We also appreciated the fact that our pup could stay as well - there is a small back yard with a beautiful quince tree, and a nice Persimmon tree out front. Her breakfasts are indeed phenomenal - plentiful and generous - these non vegans ordered the Vegan Burrito Bar - and loved every last bite! The small kitchen is also filled with nice touches, coffee and teas, and a small pot of cream with the date in the fridge - so thoughtful! All in all, we definitely wish we could have stayed longer!

  • I recently completed a 3-night stay at Lisa's South Tabor Cottage. I'd love to leave a bad review so nobody ever books it again and I could live there forever, but I won't. In short, my stay was amazing. The confirmation email contained clear instructions about the check-in process and that really helped. The cottage is the cutest little thing I've ever seen. Clean, classy, quiet and in a great neighborhood. As a coffee addict, I was thrilled to see that there was a coffeemaker and Lisa left amazing freshly-ground coffee as well as cream and sugar in the fridge! The bathroom was great and clean, complete with a strong showerhead, fresh towels, shampoo and soap. The bedroom is really comfy. The bed just absorbs you and after I arrived I had one of the best 2 hour naps of my life and I l slept great every night. The cottage also has a wired internet connection, which is better than wifi for privacy. Lisa offers a free breakfast menu in the kitchen, but I didn't partake as I'm not really a "breakfast guy." My first morning there Lisa invited me to a tamale making class in the main house. I couldn't attend due to my schedule, but Lisa was so gracious as to save some tamales for me and they were really something! I may never forget those tamales. I had the opportunity to spend a little time in the main house with Lisa and her son, Zane and I am so happy I met them. They are great, genuinely friendly people and we had a really nice time chatting. The South Tabor cottage is so cute and charming that I felt like a Hobbit living in a beautiful little place in Hobbiton. So if you've ever wondered what's like to live in The Shire, book a stay at the South Tabor Cottage. This is the perfect place, whether you're single or a couple looking for a secluded romantic getaway. All in all - a great stay at a great cottage with great hosts! I truly hope to return one day...

Brand spanking new, beautiful, modern addition built on our ranch house.
Our 425 square foot addition is brand new (finished 2015) - immaculately designed, gorgeous and a perfect place to stay during your time in Portland. It has a pellet stove for delightful ambiance (and heating), it's own entrance, a blow-up air mattress (for a third guest) and a patio. Stay in a place completely Portland, powered by solar panels, built environmentally friendly, sitting on a major bike street and a couple blocks from the MAX light rail.
Our house is within 2 miles of the fantastic north and north east neighborhoods of Williams, Mississippi and Alberta. There are dozens of restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance and I leave a list of our local favorites in the house.
  • Great nice space very friendly and has everything you need for a short stay.

  • A cute space perfect for our girl's weekend. WITH an outdoor patio. It's clean, quiet, easy to find, and in a great neighborhood for a morning run. Very small kitchenette space (we didn't need it, but fyi for anyone who might).

  • This was a nice place! Very clean with a small outdoor patio. There was no TV, but it was ok. Overall a very pleasant stay

  • So easy to find and very spacious for two! Check-in was a breeze, the addition was very private and clean. We loved how close it was to downtown, a five minute walk to public transit, but tucked into a nice quiet neighborhood for a good night's rest.

This spot was perfect for our last night in Portland. I contacted Jeff last minute and within two hours we were checked in and greeted with a bag of snap peas- picked straight from their garden that filled an entire lot! We only stayed for one night but definitely could have sat on the deck overlooking their garden and nice views for several more days. The inside of the apartment was nice too- fully equipped with everything we could have possibly needed and super comfortable. It was far enough away from downtown or any major commercial zones to feel more secluded than other parts of town we'd stayed in, but also within walking distance to a small restaurant district. We were able to walk to a nice dinner spot, and could have checked out a showing of Labyrinth at a nearby theater if we weren't looking forward to getting back to the studio. Good spot for sure...

Elaine was a wonderful host and the property was delightful. A wonderful older North East Portland neighborhood, very walker friendly and a short drive to the Mississippi neighborhood. Fun shops and some great restaurants and so much fun, especially if you happen to catch a beautiful sunshine filled day!
