  • Jennifer and Jason along with their beautiful daughter are very friendly and welcoming hosts. Their house is super cosy and we were met with the warmth of a gorgeous fire on a chilly night. The room was spotlessly clean and the beds very comfortable. We were provided with towel, dressing gown and slippers. Wifi was great and we were given breakfast including fresh homemade bread. Jennifer and Jason are knowledgeable about their area and gave us some great tips on places to go. They are within short driving distance from Takaka town and the beach - ideal. Would definitely recommend! Thanks guys!

  • One of our best stayes in New Zealand with truly amazing hosts. Jennifer, Jason and April were so helpful and welcoming! The house is nice and tidy, the garden is wonderful with lots of plants and trees. They gave us a lot of tips what to do in the nearby area and for our trip around the southisland. Would stay there again at anytime and highly recommend them! Greetings from bavaria Anna, Sophia, Uwe

  • Jennifer, Jason and their daughter April made our visit to New Zealand extra special. They were wonderful hosts and took such good care if us. We didn't rent a car and arranged with them to give us tours which were great. We learned and saw so much more than if we had explored by ourselves or had taken group tours. We also enjoyed delicious homecooked dinners with them. Their home is in peaceful and beautiful setting and they are a wonderffully welcoming family. We highly recommend staying with them.

    Leslie2018-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great time at Jennifer's. Lovely house, lovely family, tons of good tips and such a friendly and warm welcome...feel like home. Many thanks to them especially to the cutest princess April !

  • We had the best time at Jennifer’s and Jason’s place. We slept in the twin bedroom inside the house and had dinner with them twice. Jennifer is a very good cook! She bakes as well, so I would recommend eating with them, not only for the food, but also for the great stories and recommendations they have on what to do while traveling. Jennifer and Jason are very nice and welcoming, and their daughter April is super cute and funny! Highly recommend this place!!

    Marlies2018-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer and Jason were the best hosts you could imagine. You do not want to JUST stay with them, you want to live with them. They really make you feel at home. The house itself was very cute and cozy, our room was clean, super-comfortable and simply amazing. From the house, you can get a fabulous view od Milky Way, which was simply mesmerizing. Jennifer even made us breakfast the next day - served with a delicious homemade marmelade, a perfect way to start off your day. We were starting the Abel Tasman Coast Trail the next day and Jennifer’s home was a perfect starting point for us as it is super-close to Takaka and very close to Wainui, from where we headed off to our adventure. I absolutely recommend staying with Jennifer, Jason and April (the sweetest kid ever!), it was a lovely and very sweet experience. Thank you again for everything!

    Kateřina2018-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay at Jennifer and Jason’s, would highly recommend to anyone who is looking to explore the area. Jenny’s knowledge of the local walks, sights and places to eat was second to none and incredibly useful!

  • Gail was a very gracious host! My mother and I stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed our stay. Gail went above and beyond with ensuring we were comfortable and had everything we needed. When I wasn't feeling well, she even gave us herbs from her garden to use! The place is exceptionally clean. Would definitely recommend staying here if you're in the area!

  • Gail is a very welcoming and friendly host who is always available for conversation or information. Her place is perfectly located for hiking tours in the Abel Tasman National Park. The breakfast, including a fresh-made loaf of bread every day, was bombastic! She provides everything you need: fresh towels (every day), a well equipped kitchen, a clean and big bathroom, three bedrooms (for two people each), ...and so much more! She made us feel like we were at home, thanks!

    Miriam2017-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for 4 people. Gail and her house were lovely. This house was very clean and we were able to spend really comfortably. Gail was kind and the bread she had prepared was delicious. Access was also good.

    Mari2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We were a group of five who stayed here for six days. Gail is a wonderful hostess producing breakfast including fresh bread and fruit from her garden including the most delicious plums. Nothing was too much trouble and it was home from home. It is exceptionally clean and Gail provided comprehensive instructions for our stay. Recommended!

  • Stay as long as you can! What a beautiful place! Initially, I only booked two nights but then extended by one and was so glad I did that. The place is sparkling clean, beautifully decorated and just like a fairy tale. Jennifer and her lovely family made me directly feel at home and I got spoiled with home made bread, jam and homegrown fruit and vegetables. One of the best air bnbs I ever stayed at. Thanks again!

And from your bed room window, you can watch the stars at night. Jennifer and Jason are the friendliest hosts, they even gave us home made bread and cake everyday. Wish we could stay longer than the 3 nights we were there! Five stars for the cottage and 1 extra star for Jennifers cooking skills!

    Daryl&Rachel2018-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Very lovely space with all-you-can-eat nashis, plums, tomatoes and lemons from the garden. Jennifer is a very helpful and kind host. She even made us dairy free plum jam and bread. The AC is fantastic since we had a heat wave during our stay. Completely off the beaten track, a jewel of tranquility with high chances to spot a rabbit or a weka!

This 1973 Zephyr caravan is like stepping back into time. Cute, cosy, comfy and very kiwiana! With a double bed and 2 singles (caravan size beds) she is perfect for a few nights of chillaxing or a stopover to Abel Tasman NP. Zephyr sits nestled amongst the lush bush, our driveway, our babbling stream, and Falconer Rd. Be prepared to be very close to nature. The outdoor (covered) kitchen is complete with a gas cooker, sink and all the kitchen cooking essentials. Tea/coffee complimentary.
We are 600 meters from the beach with Kahurangi and Abel Tasman National Parks at your exploration doorstep. This caravan is located on the same property as Oasis Omarama - Permaculture Glamping (also listed on Air BnB as one glamping tent). We can accomodate larger groups with the caravan and the glamping tent or this can be perfect for a bit of space from the kids (or the in-laws). Discounts can be offered for bookings of both the Glamping Tent and the caravan together. Please contact me. You will relax in your own self-contained zone in lush surroundings right next to our stream. The caravan is also nearest to the road/driveway but this is a local road with very little traffic, just a few friendly neighbours. You will be close to nature with very basic amenities, but everything you need (bring your own towel if possible). This is a not a 5-star accomodation, but a humble kiwiana experience. There is an outdoor kitchen set up that is complete with all you need to cook up a feast. The kitchen is covered with a tarp roof but it is outside, so during rain it does get a bit wet (there are no walls). There are also spiderwebs given that this is an outdoor set up and I can in no way keep them out. There is a small fridge in the caravan as well. Tea and coffee goodies are complimentary. There is a small oil-fin heater in the caravan and an electric blanket on the double bed. As it's a small space, It's cosy as in there with the heater on. There is power to the caravan to charge gadgets. We (your hosts) also live on the property about 70 meters from the caravan area. There are lots of trees and greenery between the dwellings so plenty of privacy. Again, there is only 1 caravan and 1 glamping tent on the property and the caravan is in it's own self-contained separate zone. We also often have abundant fruit and produce and certain times of year that we love to share with our guests. Let Nature surround and embrace you. Please Be prepared to be close to nature. If you cannot pee outside please do not book this accomodation 😊. At night it is easier to pee outside in the bush then walk the 25 meters to the loo. The outdoor shower and compost loo are a short stroll away (about 25 meters). If you are not comfortable with composting toilets or a hot beautiful outdoor shower then we recommend you book elsewhere. The Caravan comfortably accommodates 2 adults, with space for up to 2 additional children or adults, making it the perfect family nature holiday getaway. All extra guests (including children) requiring a bed to be made up will be an additional $15 per night. Please add additional guests when making your booking. Also please note that these are caravan size beds so they run a bit small. They are NOT full size beds. Please bring your own towels and if you have more than 2 guests a sleeping bag or blanket could be handy. We have extra bedding but it can get cool at night. Pets are allowed with prior approval and must sleep outside of the caravan. Pets will be charged an extra cleaning fee of $15 to be paid in cash. We look forward to hosting you and sharing our wee slice of paradise! Again prepare to be close to nature with basic facilities. This beautiful and incredible land has been created and managed as a full Permaculture organic garden and self-sufficiency lifestyle block. Permaculture is the conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive systems which have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems. It is the harmonious integration of the landscape with the people which provides their food, energy, shelter and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable way. Permaculture integrates people into Nature's design. Spending time here allows you to be embraced and nurtured by this natural design. You can be at one with the elements as you enjoy your homegrown breakfast with the sun shining on you. We live on half an acre of luscious soil with our very own stream which runs year round. We aim to grow as much of our own food as possible. We have fruit and nut trees: peach, apple, plum, grape, hazelnut, walnut, avocado, lemon, macadamia, feijoa, fig, kiwifruit, mandarin, orange, pear, tamarillo....We also have our own chickens for fresh eggs. We have beehives that pollinate the fruit and nut trees and provide us with the most delicious honey! As fruit is in season, you can pick your own straight from the tree for the BEST-tasting, freshest fruit you have ever had. You can nibble your way through the gardens and enjoy a meditative sit on the sea view deck taking in the multitude of smells and sounds. You will lay your head to rest listening to a babbling stream gently lulling you to sleep. Abundant Native bird song will awake you in the morning within the natural rhythms of daybreak. We have tui, kereru, thrush, blackbird, bellbird, piwakawaka, weka, and more. The evening sun glows through the caravan and warms it throughout the day.
We live across the street from our local Marae (Maori meeting place). We live in a quiet neighborhood and in a community of friendly, helpful, and caring people. Beautiful Pohara beach is just a 600 meter stroll away. The beach is an endless expanse of ever-changing beauty as the tide moves a great distance between high and low. It is a great place to walk, run, explore, swim, frolic, ride horses, fly a kite, kayak, ride a blo-kart, relax, read, or walk your dog. We even have our very own NZ Little Blue Penguins residing nearby, who are shy but very entertaining. The Tarakohe wharf is also only a 15-20 minute walk with great access to fishing, sailing and boating. There is ample rock climbing within walking distance all along the sea frontage. We are at the gateway to the top end of the Abel Tasman National Park (the quietest most untouched areas are up on the top end). There are endless pristine beaches to explore, kayak, or walk along, as well as waterfall and bush tracks. Some of Golden Bay's best restaurants are within walking distance, such as the San Souci Inn and Ratanui Lodge. For any easy inexpensive meal pick up some fish & chips or pizzas from the local takeaways at Pohara General Store. Aroha Health Spa just down the road provides a range of relaxing therapies and treatments to pamper you after a long day exploring :)
  • Shanti es respetuosa y la ubicación es excelente para ir a Pohara y Tatas Beach. El lugar de alojamiento respeta la descripción existente en airbnb.

    Natalia2018-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the caravan at Shanti's for a night. Shanti was very communicative prior to our arrival. We had a little difficulty reaching her via phone on the day of our arrival, perhaps coz of less network in the area. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience. There were bad odours in the caravan. The sheets and pillows were ok. However, the caravan has electricity and also a refrigerator. The kitchen was right outisde the caravan, but we didn't use any of it because most of the things were covered in cobwebs. The basin in the kitchen drains into a bucket which one needs to empty. The toilet, which is a minute walk from the caravan, is a compost toilet and there were no bad odours or insects in it. Finally, there was parking right besides the caravan, but Shanti asked us to park on the street and we don't know why. The area is a about 30-40 minutes drive from Abel Tasman and about an hour from Wharariki. The town has 2-3 bars/restaurants.

  • We absolutely loved it! One of the best airbnb-experienced we have had! We just loved the caravan and everything around it. Shanti made it absolutely perfect! Everything you need is right there, everything is really perfect. Definitely recommend! Thanks again for having us

  • It was the perfect little bit of extra luxury after staying in a tent for a while. Humble and reasonably priced. Shanti's permaculture garden is lovely, and her fruit trees are particularly impressive.

Back to Nature! A rustic charming cottage. Rivers, springs, bush, on the mountain. A New Zealand retreat 4 km up a mountain from Pohara beach...the best beach in the world! It is beyond wifi and mobile phone connection but can be accessed from the hill 200 meters behind cabin. It is very basic and simple, a place with a difference. We are a vegetarian family and request only veggie food prepared here.
A basic 1 room cabin with a double bed. compost loo, solar shower. Simple Basic but private. Hardy, nature people with energetic personalities will love it. Plenty of space to roam up the valleys, riverbanks and bush tracks. Super views. Collect your own firewood, No electricity except for in the Waterpowered Woolshed, which is available for phone top ups. Compost toilet, solar shower . Basic kitchenette . Have a relaxing fun adventure!
  • Un lugar con mucho encanto, rodeado de montaňas y caballos, una experiencia muy recomendable y en contacto completo con la naturaleza. Nature experience, cozy place with horses. Cath is very friendly :) Miriam and Kalle (Spain & Sweden)

  • Cath’s place was excellent to stay at. Her description of the place is accurate (no WiFi, solar showers, etc) and it was nice to live “off the grid”. She was accommodating and willing to answer any questions. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Magical stay in the Green valley. We were literally out of time. Amazing location if you want to reconnect to Nature. You can possibly go for a horse ride with Cath and I was lucky enough to experience that / nb: it is on top of the cost of the accommodation. We loved our stay soooo much that we didn’t want to leave - we extended for an extra day. Cath is delightful, knowledgeable, a real artist and we had such an interesting exchange on so many levels. Best encounter so far through AirBnB. Thanks Cath !!! I hope to see you soon !

  • Quiet pretty little cabin away from it all. It was great to relax and get a good night's sleep. Cath was really friendly and welcoming. You need to be happy with very basic amenities, which we were fine with. You also need to drive on a long gravel road so ensure your car is up to it especially if the weather is bad.

    Sarah2018-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cath's place is an amazing spot with a beautifully arranged caban. And her hospilatlity was outstanding! Thank you so much. If you like to have a serene place in the nature with great views, go there!

  • Cath’s cabin is was in a great location - very scenic views of Golden Bay. The nearby horses were cool. We hired an old rental car which did struggle to get up the loose gravel hill but the view was definitely worth it! The cabin itself has very basic amenities as described. Thanks Cath!

This gorgeous two bedroom cottage oozes with character and has it's own sun deck and private garden.  It's in a private location 5 minutes drive from Takaka and only a one-minute drive to Pohara beach and the beachside 9 hole Takaka golf course.  It's an ideal base for families or a romantic getaway for two.
Blue Cottage is a warm, fully furnished home from home. It has new furniture and a very comfortable queen-sized bed. The second bedroom has 2 bunk beds and a single bed. The single bed has a dropside bed rail for tiny tots. All bed linen, towels and face cloths are provided. The kitchen is fully equipped so you can cook meals if you wish and basic herbs, oil and sugar are provided. For winter bookings the logfire quickly heats the whole house. We provide wood, kindling and pine cones. We have free WiFi, TV, music, board games to play and good books of all genres to read.
The cottage is a two minute drive or a ten-minute walk from beautiful Pohara beach. Further to the east are beaches at Ligar Bay, Tata Beach and Wainui Bay. Golden Bay Kayaks operates out of Tata Beach. The local golf course is only a ten minute walk away as is the lovely Grove Scenic Reserve with its giant rata trees, moody limestone rock formations and wonderful lookout over Golden Bay. The Abel Tasman National Park and the Kahurangi National Parks both border Golden Bay, making it the perfect holiday destination for nature lovers. The Cottage is 30 minutes drive from Totaranui, at the northern part of Abel Tasman. En route are lovely gentle walks at Wainui Falls and Wainui Bay.
  • As good or better than anywhere we have stayed. Warm and welcoming, delightful, cosy and clean, with a country feel. We wanted to stay much longer. Communication was great, and the location was perfect. Check out kiwi spirit distillery everyone, just up the road. Highly recommended.

Our unique Flax Pod cabin is a repurposed shipping container with cool views of Golden Bay. It suits a couple, has a queen bed, sofa and basic kitchen facilities. Bifolding doors open onto a deck where you can totally relax, enjoy a cold beer and soak up the sea views. Its in a great location and a great base to explore Golden Bay from. Enjoy getting back to the basics, dozing in a hammock, a friendly weka or two and a spectacular night sky.
The Flax Pod cabin is a converted shipping container and although pretty basic and very diy, it is warm, comfortable and in a cool location. Its a bit like glamping with its basic kitchen facilities, hot outdoor shower and composting toilet. The kitchen has a fridge, toaster, jug, double stove top, pots and pans, crockery and cutlery - you should find everything you need. There is no microwave or oven. The views from the Flax Pod are pretty awesome. You can see over the ocean out towards Farewell Spit and into the western ranges. It is on a newly purchased property which we are regenerating back into native bush. We are still in the early stages of landscaping. It is usually quiet and peaceful, although we do have kids being kids. You are free to wonder down to the stream area where the native trees are restoring and where, along the stream edge, you can see glow worms at night. We also have a caravan to rent and space for 4 campervans to park down by the stream. Our family home is close by but you have your own space and we won't disturb you. If you fancy an evening sitting around our wee fire pit and gazing at the stars while toasting marshmallows, bring some small firewood or grab an armload of drift wood from the local beach. We supply wood to start you off. BBQ available on request.
Quiet neighbourhood shared with local people and local wildlife. It has stunning views in every direction and the valley is clad in trees. A very special place with lots of birds such as kereru, weka, kea, tui, bellbird.
  • This really is a wonderful place. It's a converted shipping container with an semi-outdoor shower and toilet which doesn't sound amazing on paper but it just works. It has a large deck where you can sit and enjoy the spectacular view out across Golden Bay, or have a fire in the evening. There's no need to pull the curtains at night so you can look out at the stars from the bed. In the sunny but cool winter days we were there we found the heater was more than adequate for keeping the room cosy. The location above Pohara is also handy to a good dairy and a couple of pubs. The hosts couldn't have been better. This is just a flat-out fantastic BnB.

    Neil2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is the place to stay in golden bay - lovely hosts - extremely welcoming and the location and views from the flax pod are unrivalled and unforgettable. If you like a bit of star gazing you can look into the up into Milky Way (weather permitting). This was our favourite stop in NZ! Highly recommend. Thanks for the amazing experience

    Simone2019-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely spot to chill out with a nice view and all the amenities you need. Shower was a bit on and off but otherwise fine.

    Julian2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wish I could give 10 stars!! The view left us speechless and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to start our trip of the South Island! Could not fault the place in any way was picturesque.

    Courtney2018-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a really special spot and space to relax this is the place for you! The views from the decking were outstanding and the sunsets unbeatable, the bed was very comfy and the hospitality and friendliness of the hosts was second to none. Highly recommend

    Jessica2019-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous sunset and star views from this cozy spot. Close proximity to Abel Tasman. Wish we had booked longer to stay and fully enjoy the spot.

Romantic Getaway. Seeing it is loving it! The Caboose is a handcrafted replica of an old train carriage, with a private garden. Set on a half acre property with a historic farmhouse, only 5 minutes drive from the beach and Takaka township.
Romantic Getaway. Seeing it is loving it! The Caboose is a handcrafted replica of an old train carriage, with a private garden. Set on a property with a historic farmhouse, only 5 minutes drive from the beach and Takaka township. Great for both summer and winter with a pot belly making it cosy on the colder nights and an outside bath for a romantic soak under the stars. Your stay at the The Caboose in Golden Bay will hopefully be a special experience that you will remember! Close to Takaka and close to the beaches, so perfect as a base for your holiday or as your base to explore the natural wonders Golden Bay has to offer. Or just stay in The Caboose and ... relax! We do not offer Wifi or television, hoping you will be able to get away from it all, but there are plenty of books and magazines to keep you occupied and a few games. And just to let you know ... we have children, so you might hear or see the odd child in the garden, but they will respect your privacy and the fact that you are on holiday and want to relax. Some of the feedback we were given: - Made to feel very welcome. Easy to relax inside and outside the Caboose. Really enjoyed exploring Golden Bay. Nice combination of Art Trail, natural beauty and good food - Great location and excellent accommodation. The Caboose was beautifully presented and had everything we needed. The perfect place to relax - Great spot for a get away and top location to base ourselves from to explore golden bay and up to farewell spit! Really nice place to stay and the outside bath, shower, hammock and dining area was ideal and made it even more special for us! - Thanks so much for the relaxing refuge. Beautifully quiet, would recommend to anyone who needs some time out - The outside bath is awesome. We'll be back :) Truly one of the best accommodations my wife and I have ever spent time in - after 40 years of traveling. A small space but absolutely magical and meticulously detailed. A true labour of love created by someone with a genius level of originality and inspiration. This little wonder is dripping with soul. After leaving and checking into our next night's accommodation after leaving Takaka, we felt an overwhelming sense of loss - realizing our one night stay there hadn't been nearly long enough. - A very unique, relaxing and private get-away! We loved staying in the Caboose with our 2 year old daughter and will happily recommend it to others. The private backyard with outdoor bath and shower were a highlight, and the welcoming eggs and beer a lovely touch. Thank you, I'm sure we will be back!
Rural outlook over farmlands but close to beach and lots to explore. Golden Bay is New Zealand's most diverse and appealing holiday destination. Imagine a region with endless variety, where golden beaches, alpine valleys and tranquil fishing rivers share a close proximity with the sea. Breathtaking scenery, arts and crafts, sporting activities. There's something for everyone. Golden Bay is nestled into the South Island's north-west corner. A chain of steep and rugged mountains cuts its fertile river plains and valleys from the rest of the island.
  • How cute is this place! My partner and I stayed for four nights recently and loved it. Very quirky, very romantic. The Caboose has everything you need for your stay and the outdoor bath and shower were a real treat (admittedly we were there during some nice warm days). The bed was super-comfy and the whole things a gorgeous cosy experience. The Caboose is lit for ambience and if you have 'old eyes' like we do, then bring a small head torch for reading. Our only regret was that that it wasn't cold enough to warrant lighting the little wood stove inside. We can't wait to come back and stay again. Both Lisa and her husband Peter are friendly and helpful.

    Heather2016-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my partner absolutely loved The Caboose. The space had been so thoughtfully transformed and despite being a renovated train carriage, never felt small or cramped. Very clever, everything had its space and it was really well furnished. The personality of the space made it an absolute pleasure and Lisa, aside from being lovely and welcoming, has also clearly put a lot of time and effort into making The Caboose what it is. Blankets, dressing gowns, candles etc. Even beer and eggs in the fridge! And the outdoor bathroom/garden ... what a treat. Watching the sun go down from the huge bathtub with birds flying all around will be a memory to hold onto for a long time. My only regret is that we were here for just two nights. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

  • Charming place. Great bath. Enjoyed our stay

    Andrew2019-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The Caboose is such a stylish and well appointed little place! We loved our stay and would highly recommend it. Just a short drive from all the shops and cafes in Takaka which is so handy too.

  • The caboose is a unique experience with an amazing outlook over the local area. Peter and Lisa were very helpful.

  • A great place from which to explore the Golden Bay Area. The Caboose is quiet, cosy and peaceful with all the amenities you require. Wonderful bed and we especially loved the outdoor shower! Thank you and we will be back.

    Richard2018-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Caboose is an amazing getaway! The space is incredibly well laid out, cosy, and clean. The outdoor bath and shower are heavenly!! Lots of hot water and good water pressure. The kitchen is well equiped with pots and pans for oven/ stove, microwave, small fridge, toaster, plates, cutlery etc. Everything you need! Bed is cosy and comfy :) Even greeted with some eggs, and a small bottle of honey-moon champagne! Lisa is an incredibly lovely and friendly host, and although the caboose is not far away from the house we felt like we had our own space. Already looking foward to coming back.

"The Chocolate Yurt" is a fully insulated 6m yurt with a skylight to gaze at the stars at night. A private retreat in the native bush with outdoor kitchen with cooking facilities and bath/shower, both with amazing views of the Motueka river valley and the Tasman Bay beyond.
Our yurt resides in an eco village in the Motueka river valley, 15 minutes from Motueka. The handcrafted wooden furniture gives it a warm, inviting atmosphere. A woodburner provides warmth for the winter months.
Our yurt is surrounded by native bush and often you wake up with the song of the bellbird and fall asleep with the sound of the morepork. Our neighbours are all happily living in this beautiful spot
  • Absolutely Beautiful. Tessa and Remko are lovely. Fantastic massages. Delicious breakfast. What more could you ask for 🥰

    Amanda2016-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Being completely different made the experience of staying at Tessa's and Remko's Yurtlife truly unique and special. Following their dreams of living in the bush and close to the sea has been magically realized with a vision and the strength of their own hands. Do not miss an opportunity to stay here if you are lucky enough to find an opening. The stars and Milky Way are mesmerizing!

    Jim & Lisa2016-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • What an awesome experience! Remko met and welcomed us, showed us around our Yurt, and was very helpful. The place is a short drive out of town, and very easy to get to in our little 2wd rental. Very quiet and relaxing! A very awesome place to stay in, something we have never experienced before but would do again and highly recommend to everyone! Well worth it!

    Emily2016-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • We are yurt converts. We loved the simplicity and elegance of the accommodation. We arrived late due to flight delays and Tessa kept us in the loop and a welcoming lamp on the stairs showed us the way. The bed was comfy and snug, we slept really well. Great to wander outdoor to the toilet and kitchen whilst taking in the valley views. The outdoor bathroom was fun as well. A great stay and highly recommended.

    Peter And Julie2016-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • My stay with Tessa and her family in the chocolate Yury was nothing short of being profoundly life changing....The yurt was so luxurious and warm, in a setting that is like Nirvana....Tessa and her family are beautiful, generous open-hearted people and although I only spent one night, I felt truely inspired by the beautiful Life they have created. I wish I could have stayed.

    Angela2016-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to rest, relax, unplug and recharge the batteries. I would have loved a longer stay in the Chocolate Yurt. Tessa and Remko are lovely hosts, and their breakfasts are not to be missed! I loved my glimpse into their simple and self-sufficient life and have taken some ideas home with me!

Excellent location with superb views directly across the road from the beach at Ligar Bay. We have two baches on one section - excellent for families with kids or big groups. Please enquire about our White House or our smaller Yellow House. WIFI available at $5 per day
We are located at Ligar Bay- Next beach to Tata Beach-The listing gives us only the option of Tata Beach. We are located across the road from the beach. Wifi i available at $5 per day. The kitchen does not have a dishwasher. We are on rain water supply for house supply so we do recommend water saving measures in the summer. The toilets and outside taps are on well water. The house guests are required to service/ clean the house after their stay. We can arrange this for a $100 fee which means you will be required to depart at 11am if a full clean is required.
  • Cute little place on an awesome stretch of beach. Close to Abel Tasman and Takaka and an all around great place to stay!

    Annie2019-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • House is a fairly typical Kiwi bach and was better than I'd expected. Location is amazing, directly across from the beach. Pull down bed in the lounge is super comfortable with great views out to the beach. Garry was very patient on the phone helping us sort out some issues we had with the TV when we arrived but we got it working in the end! Would highly recommend.

    Kaye2019-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely scenic view to wake up to with a warm fireplace (or Heatpump) to come home to after a long day of exploring. Perfect if you’re wanting to go to Wainui Falls or just relax on the beach. We opted for the cleaning service and although it was a little more it was nice to just be able to leave and carry on to our next destination. I highly recommend and Garry is always quick and responsive.

  • The Landing was an unforgettable place. It was the most beautiful yard we have ever seen. Barrie, Anne_Marie and Heidi (the labrador with no bad bone in his body) were really lovely. They showed us where the hotspots in Pohara (and around) are and how to get there and helped us in anyway. We can highly recommend this place and for us are Barrie and Anne_Marie Super Hosts.

    Christian2016-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Barries and Anne-Maries house was like in paradise!!! We had a clean, big, wonderful decorated room with bathroom and a little kitchen. We also had an private terrace with view over the sea and we were allowed to use the huge garden and take fresh tomatos and herbage (it was almost a botanical garden - beautiful!) Barrie gave us many helpful tips on what places we should go - thanks again! The walking distance to the beach and restaurants was just 5 minutes. A really wonderful place to stay!!!

Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and furry friends (pets).
Self contained modern Cottage in the beautiful grounds of a lovingly restored 1926 weatherboard family villa. There is a BBQ, toaster, kettle, microwave and hot plate with all utensils - but no cooker.
Right in the 'heart of the parks'. Close to Kahurangi and Abel Tasman National Parks. Round the corner from Rawhiti Cave, Rameka track; Pohara beach and Takaka township only 4 kms away.
  • We loved staying at Feijoa Tree Cottage so much that it was hard to leave on the day of checkout. Janet and Richard are lovely, and we felt completely welcome and at home. The cottage is comfortable, very well-appointed, spotlessly clean, and very tastefully decorated. This is a great location for Abel Tasman and Golden Bay, and we would highly recommend staying here. We are already thinking about when we could come back.

  • This place is perfectly positioned in Golden Bay, being close to Takaka, but having a peaceful rural atmosphere. The cottage feels new, was clean and well presented. The view to the gardens and farm lands with the mountain backdrop sealed the deal.

Much on offer and all of Golden Bay to explore. We recommend 2 day stay. Our kiwi bach style cottage sits in extensive peaceful gardens. It is self-contained, views from deck, a full kitchen, your own bathroom and all the linen you will need. It is all provided at excellent value and includes use of bbq and pizza oven(we light and supply dough). This is good quality kiwi style accommodation, lots of fun at a very good price. Lots of advise on making the most of your visit.
  • Steve was a very welcoming and friendly host. He has a beautiful setting and absolutely serene and relaxing stay. We truly wished we could have stayed longer

  • The cottages offer superbe views of the sea and the garden they are set in is the perfect place to unwind. Even though it was raining most of the time, we had a cosy and warm home away from home and could easily do some activities in and around Pohara. Communication was easy and we would stay there again.

Welcome to your rejuvenating holiday in our bush hideaway with bird view over Tasman Bay! You will be surrounded by lush regenerating and mature bush, refreshing river and diverse birdsong. This is a truly relaxing place, for you only, off the grid with pure water fresh from our hill source! On top of that, it is very close to Motueka and its beautiful beaches (both 15 min) as well as to the amazing tourist attractions of the Top of the South! A true Kiwi experience off the beaten track!
You will be sleeping in our cosy tiny house "the Hut" on the hill side with sea view, including bush and mountain view. This is just 10 m above the "Shelter" and accessible via stairs and has its main bed (king size) in the maisonette. You can see the moon rise over the sea and the sun tickles you in the morning! The couch below offers two more sleeping options. Feel invited to have your morning cuppa on the veranda and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening hours and indulge into the breath taking view and natures changing scenery enhanced by sounds of surrounding nature. Below on the main level, where you always can park your car is the groovy "Shelter", a diversely creative outdoor living space encompassing a kitchen and dining area. Four different building techniques have been played around with to create this special space. Below this, nestled in the bush, is your outdoor bathroom, the "Tub" with a huge bath / shower. As nature is our host, we treat our environment with full respect and use no chemicals. Therefore we provide natural dish wash liquid and soap. Similar, our toilet is a clean composting toilet AND invites for a long experience overlooking bush and sea!!! Loo with a View!
This is a hill side with 6 properties. Please respect private areas. As our guests you are welcome to go for walks on our property only.
  • What a great place to stay and enjoy being out in nature. The outdoor kitchen we a real treat and climbing the ladder into the loft bed was easy and fun. Thanks for a great experience.

  • Thank you for a relaxing stay. Your accommodation is beautiful and soul reviving - from the beautiful sunrise and views, to the artsy outdoor kitchen, to the amazing outdoor bath. Thank you for being a wonderful hostess. We hope to be back soon.

  • Wow, our stay with Claudia and Wayne was so much more than we could have imagined! The amenities have everything you need and more. The kitchen, bathroom and living spaces are perfectly placed in the surrounding nature with clever use of the resources and a creative personal touch. Definitely a must to stay here if you are in the area or just want to get away from everyday life. The view over Tasman Bay together with the sounds of nature do wonders in grounding and calming ones mind. We’ll be back soon!

    Viola2019-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Claudia’s tiny house is a gorgeous and fun place to stay! You’re nestled up in the bush with a stunning view for miles. That combined with the craftsmanship and love that she has put into building the place, the awesome outdoor bath/shower, and the excellent communication with Claudia - this tiny house is a must for those with a love of nature and a flair for the slightly wilder side of BnBs!

    Bonnie2019-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • The views are incredible. If you want a break from it all, this is the place to visit. So cleverly designed and built. A wonderful experience.

    Paul2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Stay here! Best view from your room in New Zealand. Private, peaceful and not overlooked by anyone. Loved it so much we stayed an extra night and would have stayed longer if we could. Our favourite aspect was the outdoor shower/bath. The kitchen has everything you need, incl. fridge, we used the stove and had BBQs too, the touches like spices and oil really appreciated. Nicest compost toilet we've ever used (you even get a view). We think the description undersells it - we originally thought some areas would be communal but pleased we had it all to ourselves. Claudia is a great host, very welcoming and constantly looking to improve the place. If we are back in NZ we will definitely return. Can't stress enough how much we loved it. Thank you, Aimee & Alec P.s. track is absolutely fine in a 4x4 (we did it multiple times). Wouldn't like to attempt the last corner in a campervan, possibly take up Claudias kind offer of a lift up if that's you.

    Alec2019-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wow just wow!!! This wee slice of paradise is exactly what we were looking for and so so much more. This was far more than a place just to lay our heads to sleep. From the one of a kind cooking/dining to the bath under the stars then to wake up to the most spectacular veiw while taking an early morning stroll through the beautiful bush with details dancing around us. Claudia was the most lovely host who goes above and beyond. Can't Wait to return hopefully soon

    Renee2019-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Tui's secret does not disappoint, although if staying over winter be sure to pack warm clothes as it does get cold when the sun goes down! It has everything that someone looking for 'an escape into nature' could offer. A hot shower or bath surrounded by birds and bush, an awesome 'shelter' to cook and eat in, and a beautiful hut with one of the most gorgeous views to wake up to. A true piece of private paradise, so happy that Claudia has put in so much effort in order to share this way of life with us. It exceeded all expectations and we hope to be back soon! Fatima and Roxi, from Nelson.

Our mountain view home is situated between New Zealand's iconic Abel Tasman and Kahurangi National Parks. After a day kayaking and exploring the many experiences Tasman Bays and Golden Bay has to offer, our guest accommodation will provide a quiet haven for you to relax and plan the day ahead.
Our guest accommodation has everything you need for preparing light meals. We provide tea (black and herbal), Fair Trade coffee and organic milk. If you are travelling from Nelson the last place to purchase food and grocery items is Motueka.
The Wool Shed Cafe on Canaan Road is 5 minutes drive up the road, and serves as a focal point for the Takaka Hill Community Christmas Parties and community meetings. Ngarua Caves 7 minutes from our home is definitely worth visiting as these caves are spectacular.
  • a very nice location

    Valentin2019-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Charmaine and Norman were amazing hosts. The place itself is a quiet oasis in a wonderful setting of Takaka Hill. Everything was ship shape when it comes to cleanliness and comfort and the guest part of the house is very nicely done and spacious. We enjoyed privacy (reading many books from the extensive library in the guest part of the house) but also got to spend time with our hosts and had a lovely dinner with them which was so delicious (Norman's famous "Hobbit chicken" :) We had a stroll in the garden and forest and their property. A truly remarkable place to stay if you are looking for a place that feels like a heaven :)

    Lenka2018-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Charmaine and Nelson were amazing hosts and their place is a special paradise. I must warn visitors that there was a 12min delay getting up the hill as the road narrows to one lane and there is a traffic light to manage traffic. This is not temporary as the road is damaged from a cyclone. the road is very windy and not for those afraid of heights. Perfectly safe however and amazing vistas await! Takaka Hill is worth the wait! Plan accordingly for activities. We took advantage of their hospitality and requested dinner. It was wonderful and Charmaine accommodated our vegetarian and gluten free requirements. Don't hesitate to take advantage of their hospitality after a long day of hiking. Wonderful grounds with gardens of flowers and vegies. Charmaine gave us a tour identifying plants and bird songs. Thank you Charmaine and Nelson!

  • We couldn’t recommend this house more! Guests are given their own private area of the house and the location is off the beaten track so very private and relaxing. We had great sleeps in the beautiful beds and lovely warm showers. The house is surrounded by beautiful gardens and has a great view. It was great having the basics provided such as a fridge, kettle and cups etc. anything additional you need the hosts are happy to provide. We had trouble using our phones and internet as the house is out of range for some companies but this was a nice break from technology. Norm and Charmaine are fantastic hosts and went above and beyond for us. I would love to return and would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit the area and explore Abel Tasman. Thanks for having us :)

Chalet in own gardens view down valley to sea. Cosy, your own full kitchen and bathroom. Beds made. pizza oven/bbq included. Yoga, massage, breakfast, available at extra charge. Fantastic location to explore Golden Bay from.
Very peaceful kiwi bach style accommodation with all of stunning Golden Bay available close by. Many extra's on offer.
Abel Tasman National Park (we are the closest to the quiet western end.) Caves, springs, amazing beaches - just so much! Suggest at least a couple of days.
  • A great spot to relax and unwind! The cottage has everything you need. Unfortunately the weather wasn't that great, which didn't improve the slight dampness of the cottage, but we still had a great time! Steve is a very friendly and welcoming host.

    Laura2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Would definitely recommend! Location and the accommodation were lovely. Steve was welcoming and gave us some helpful recommendations! He also made us some pizza dough to make our own pizzas for the pizza oven...a really lovely personal touch that made our stay even more enjoyable.

  • Lovely accommodation, great views and host is fantastic. Location is central and the chalet is cosy and well equipped. Thank you

    Cassidy2016-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • Steve's place was amazing. So homely, friendly and quirky. Him and Heather have done an incredible job at ensuring there is anything you could ever need. We had a great time in the hot tub and sauna and wish we could've stayed longer. All in all an amazing place to stay in a great location at a brilliant price!!

    Emily2017-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • I booked to spend 5 nights in the Steeve's Airbnb cottage with my parents and my brother. It wasn't exactly what we expected because it was like a holiday park area. The washing machine and the BBQ are available in a share area and the wifi was only available close to the host's house. It was a lovely moment in a charming and quiet place close to the sea but finally, we cancelled the two last nights to find something else.

    Alice2016-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Out stay at the Sandcastle Cottages was delightful! The setting is idyllic. From our cottage we took a lovely walk along the creek to the beach. There were so many nearby fabulous destinations there was no way we could see them all in a few days. Steve was very friendly. He arranged a pizza night in which he provided the dough and we all could bring our toppings to assemble delicious pizzas. What a fun time! The accommodations were very nice.

    Sandy2016-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • The location is wonderful for some R&R in a peaceful park- like setting with views of the sea- great for families and people of all ages. Steve was very accommodating of our extra guests and was even prepared to let them sleep in the table tennis room rather than outside in the rain (which unfortunately it did - on New Years eve.) Thanks Steve - we loved it and will be back.

    Anita Gardner2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Sand castles was a lovely place to stay. Steve, our host, was so kind, accommodating and welcoming. Myself and three friends stayed here to escape the rain and found a little oasis. The cabin was cozy and comfortable, and the amenities offered kept us busy. We enjoyed the hot tub, yoga studio and ping pong table. Quick walk to the beach (though unfortunately we were unable to find much dry time to explore the surrounding environment) and beautiful surroundings. Would certainly come back and recommend it to anyone!

Welcome to Hairy Hobbit Cottage, nestled in the Brooklyn Valley hills near Motueka, Nelson, New Zealand. Hairy Hobbit is a modern self contained holiday cottage offering peaceful accommodation in 70 acres of native bush, bursting with birdlife and fantastic views across Tasman Bay. Ideal for day trips to Nelson or Golden Bay or to visit the huge scenery of the Abel Tasman and Kahurangi National Parks and Kaiteriteri beach.
The modern cosy cottage has a kitchen/dining room and separate bedroom. The kitchen has a gas hob, fridge and woodburning fire. The bedroom has a queensize bed and two bunks suitable for children 4 years and over. All linen and towels are provided for your comfort. French doors open on to a sunny garden where you can enjoy a drink while cooking on the BBQ. Take in the awesome Tasman Bay views to the sound of native birds in the surrounding bush. Get back to nature in the private hot shower or soak in the bath under the stars. The separate, modern toilet has an outlook that takes first prize as loo with a view! Maybe pick some fresh fruit from the fruit trees in front of your cottage or explore the bush trail. You might spot the Hairy Hobbit ! Even in winter, I recommend at least a two night stay so you have a chance to relax and enjoy the view and peaceful surroundings of the cottage and still have time to explore the Tasman area.
My house is 100 metres away below the cottage, out of sight. I don't have nearby neighbours so the only thing that will wake you in the morning will be the birds.
  • The Hairy Hobbit is super cute! We loved how cozy it was. Dont let the outdoor toilet and shower scare you. The amenities are very nice and close to the cottage. Kids would definitely love staying in the bunk buds (I loved it also and I'm 27). Waking up to the incredible views with a cup of tea and reading on the porch swings was a wonderful way to start each morning.

The caravan is spacious and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. Shower and toilet separate and located either side of corridor to the bedroom. Located above Pohara with views out to sea. Easy walking distance to the beach, bars, fine dining and cafe's. This is a working farm visitors are asked to stay in fenced caravan areas.
The caravan is located on limestone terracing with a panoramic view out to the sea. You have your own portable barbecue and outdoor seating, enjoy eating Alfresco in the summer or light the open fire in our rustic shelter and dine by the fire.
  • I really recommend this caravan. The inside is spacious and clean, good furniture. And we can see the ocean view. We were going to stay one day,but actually we stayed two days!! We had a great time.

  • This is a beautiful location, looking over Golden Bay towards Farewell Spit and Collingwood in the far distance. Views to the ranges to the side and you can try to work out where the Heaphy Track starts. So many sites and walks around the area. Accommodation is spotless and although some may have differing thoughts about staying in the camper, you do have limited space, but do not be put off because it is so comfortable and the hosts will make you so welcome.

  • Our stay in the appartment of David & Frith was like being in a five star hotel. Everything was perfectly designed, a nice architecture, comfortable beds and bathroom etc. The location is up in the hills over Pohara beach with a beautiful and impressing view on the golden bay. You can watch the tides from above and hear the falcons cry. Our hosts were very kind and quickly answered to our requests, and we got valuable hints for activities. Only sorry that our stay there was so short!

  • I cannot recommend this beautiful home enough! I felt like I landed in heaven on earth. The fine qualities and thoughtfulness of the accommodations are outstanding. The provided breakfast was delicious, including homemade granola. David and Frith are as lovely as it gets: kind, generous, helpful! This cosy wee kiwi cottage is nestled in a quiet secluded valley away from all the hustle and bustle of the busy modern life. One minute walk to our local Pohara beach, tennis courts etc. Swimming beaches, rock climbing walls, fishing, diving and the Able Tasman NP are very close. Cafes, store and bars are at Pohara. The Takaka township is only 10 minutes drive for all your other shopping. The Golden Bay region is loaded with endless things to do and places to explore and connect with nature.
Here are a few reasons why the organic cottage is a great place to stay. You will be snug in our cottage which is well insulated throughout with some double glazed windows and wool insulation all round. Plenty of wood for the fire (not usually lit in summer here but your welcome). We have a selection of organic fruit trees to pick from to add to your breakfasts, there is plenty of organic greens and veges in the garden to add to your meals. In the back corner of the poroperty above the limestone rocks is an ancient Northern Rata tree which attracts Tui, Kereru and plenty of other bird life which will be music to your ears in the mornings. Im am a Zenthai Shiatsu practitioner so there may be an opportunity to book a bodywork session with me. For the more adventureous there is a fire bath on the bamboo grove that has water to it for star lit night gazing.... just a great place we call home.
    Friendly and peaceful
  • Gareths place is great, if your looking for a chilled out Golden bay experience, look no further. Great access to the beaches. Gareth was a great host, he's the quintessential Golden bay man living the dream. Go and stay here.

Beautiful spot in walking distance to the pristine beaches and waters, a kayac rental and restaurants are nearby. Pauline and Paul were fun and very helpful. Couldn't have asked for nicer people. They made our stay in the Golden Bay area perfect. Hope to go back.

New modern sunny Bach on a flat section, situated in beautiful Ligar Bay. Soak up the sun on the expansive deck or take a short stroll to the beach. Ligar Bay is a safe swimming beach that is tidal and is great for exploring and collecting shellfish.
  • Amazing place and location! Would definitely go back ☺️ Thank you.

You'll overlook our garden to Golden Bay. All you need with your own shower and toilet and comfortable bed. Kitchen, dining area. Part of The Sandcastle cottage accommodation so ungraded often available at no extra charge. Yoga, massage, pizza oven often available. Breakfast can be arranged -croussant, coffee, eggs, toast for $10. All of Golden Bay to explore and we are keen to help you find the best bits.
We have successfully run The Sandcastle for 20 years. Guests seem to love the quiet gardens, views and relaxed pace. A bit rustic to allow nature to flourish but this does not impact on your comfort.
Nearby in the coastal village of Pohara we have 3 cafe's and 2 restaurants.
  • The place is cosy and clean.Host thoughtfully turned on the heater for us before we arrived.Location is also good.Short walk distance to beautiful beach and dairy. We enjoyed our staying there.Highly recommend.

  • This place is pure magic. If you have the chance to come to Sandcastle, DO IT. Don't hesitate. You will be glad you did. A beautiful setting, with the bay and the sea visible from our little cottage. And everything you could hope for in a self-contained space, even communal yoga in the morning. The highlight of our entire trip to New Zealand. Thank you, Steve!

We (your hosts) also live on the property about 35 meters from the Tent area. There are lots of trees and greenery between the dwellings so plenty of privacy. Again, there is only 1 tent on the property and a caravan in it's own self-contained separate zone. We also often have abundant fruit and produce and certain times of year that we love to share with our guests. You can be at one with the elements as you enjoy your breakfast with the sun shining upon you in the outdoor picnic area. We live on half an acre of luscious soil with our very own stream which runs year round. We aim to grow as much of our own food as possible. We have fruit and nut trees: peach, apple, plum, grapes, nashi, hazelnut, walnut, avocado, lemon, macadamia, feijoa, fig, kiwifruit, mandarin, orange, and pear. We have our own chickens for fresh eggs. We have beehives that pollinate the fruit and nut trees and provide us with the most delicious honey! As fruit is in season, you can pick your own straight from the tree for the BEST-tasting, freshest fruit you have ever had. You can nibble your way through the gardens and enjoy a meditative sit on the sea view deck taking in the multitude of natural smells and sounds. The Glamping Tent is a professionally designed and manufactured 5 by 3 meter canvas tent with a 2 meter covered verandah. You will lay your head to rest next to a babbling stream as the sound of the water gently lulls you to sleep. Abundant Native bird song will awake you in the morning within the natural rhythms of daybreak. We have tui, kereru, thrush, blackbird, bellbird, piwakawaka, weka, kea, and more. The morning and evening sun glow through the tent and warm it throughout the day. There is a large main door and 2 windows, all complete with insect screens. Your Glamping tent includes a Queen size bed, chairs, shelves, dresser, mini-fridge, futon couch, as well as, electricity providing charging facilities if necessary. There is an electric blanket on the bed for extra warmth should you need it. There is a futon couch that pulls out to a double bed for additional guests. It MAY be possible to add an extra mattress onto the floor beside the queen bed for a 5th person/kid, but it would be pretty tight. Tea and coffee making facilities and goodies are offered as part of your Glamping experience. The Glamping Tent very comfortably accommodates 2 adults, with space for up to 2 additional children or adults, making it the perfect family nature holiday getaway. You may also want to consider booking our 'Humble Kiwiana Caravan' for additional guests/kids. All extra guests within the tent (including children) requiring a bed to be made up will be an additional $20 per night. Please add additional guests when making your booking. Pets are allowed with prior approval and must sleep outside of the tent. We look forward to hosting you and sharing our wee slice of paradise!
Aroha Health Spa just down the road providing a range of relaxing therapies and treatments to pamper you after a long day exploring :)

We are situated about a 10 min drive to beginning of northern end of Abel Tasman Nat Park. Continental Breakfast which includes yoghurt, fresh fruit, bread, milk and spreads. We have two rooms available, both of which you will have to yourselves on booking. 1 bedroom with 2 single beds and the other in the main area has a King size bed. Also separate laundry/toilet/shower area. Private entry and completely private to our upstairs dwelling. We can offer you a 10% discount with the local kayak Comp.
The apartment is two bedroom studio style, but very large (approx 70 sqm) with private entry. We can offer you a local discount with the Kayaking company here called Golden Bay Kayaking Company. The apartment is below our house with private entry and deck with small garden so all in all the area is very private from the house. We are 100m from Tata Beach; a beautiful beach with golden sand and mountainous backdrop. You can swim at the beach at all tides, and all year round (in winter too if you're brave). Behind the studio is direct access to an estuary (for times when the beach is too rough). The studio is equipped with everything you need to cook (a full oven, microwave, stove and refrigerator) and has a veranda for you to dine outside on warm, summer nights. We provide a continental breakfast which includes the choice of 4 cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit of the season, spreads and either raw milk or supermarket milk - your choice! Plunger coffee and teas. 100% fruit juice. Rhubarb freely available from our garden as is lettuce and herbs outside the apartment for your use. We have lived here at Tata Beach for 30 years and walked the Abel Tasman, Heaphy and Cobb Valley tracks many times. We are only a 10 minute drive to the Northern end of the Abel Tasman track and can be used as a base for tramping there without having to stay in the huts etc. We are happy to help you with your plans and give you advice on the most picturesque or challenging hikes, climbs, kayak adventures or picnic spots in the area. We are part of the local walking and cycling groups and would be more than happy to take you along for the ride. Double kayak, single kayak , paddle boards and classes are all available for hire just down the beach and we can offer a 10% discount on booking a stay with us, bikes may also be available for hire in town. Golden Bay is a relaxing location, so we ask that our guests are quiet when they share our house (we live above the studio). We can advise on the best places to have dinner and best markets to visit to take advantage of the local produce and crafts.
Close to beaches for swimming, kayaking, or just lazing on the beach. We are on a peninsular so surrounded by water either side (estuary is our backyard) so you can have a coffee on our Jack and Jill Macrocarpa seat while you watch the water come in or go out. On the beach side Tata Beach is the only beach within the Golden Bay area that is swimmable at all tides.
  • We spent three nights in the comfortable apartment in Tata Beach, only some steps to the beach of Golden Bay and with a good connection to the Abel Tasman Coast Track. Debbie and Neville were very friendly hosts and gave us a lot of helpful information for hiking, good restaurants etc. We enjoyed the interesting conversation! It' a place we can really recommend.

    Eberhard2013-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Neville and Debby are outstanding house. The place was lovely and spacious, and in a beautiful location. We rented a kayak just down the street, and went on a fantastic hike on the Abel Tasman track a shortish drive away. We also spent some time having a wonderful chat with Neville and Debby over Neville's home roasted coffee, which was delicious. They set us up with unbelievable advice for the remainder of our time in the South Island and even the North Island, including an extensive typed and printed shell of an itinerary, which has served us well throughout. They truly know New Zealand, and want to do everything they can to make sure their guests have a great time there. We highly recommend staying there, and the sooner in your trip you do it, the better.

    Lindsay2017-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is an ideal place at Golden Bay! Very close to beach 250m, near by towns are a drive away. Kayaking, SUP hire right there! Debby and Neville are lovely hosts. They have a lot of local tips, very friendly and love to share a coffee or natter with you! There place is great for small groups and has all the amenities you need.

    Fiona2019-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful 4 night stay we had in Tata Beach. Debbie and Neville were endlessly kind, thoughtful, and gracious. The accommodations were super comfortable and spacious. Having access to a washing machine after a day of sweaty hiking was a plus! We loved meeting with our hosts and planning our day while sipping Neville’s home roasted coffee “flat whites”. Their detailed sightseeing, hiking, and eatery suggestions were invaluable as were the stories they shared of life in New Zealand. We enjoyed our stay so much that we are already planning a return trip to Tata Beach. Deep felt thanks to both Debbie and Neville from Cynthia and Arthur.

    Hubert2017-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location and close to all of the attarctions in Golden Bay. Great hosts from start to finish.

    Mike2018-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • Neville & Debby are amazing hosts and they have a beautiful home a stone’s throw from the stunning Tata Beach. We absolutely LOVED our stay here! It is perfectly located for exploring Golden Bay and they will happily and proudly provide you with all the local tips (and a delicious homemade scone!) you could possibly need to see the best the area has to offer during your visit. They are lovely people and extremely attentive hosts. Nothing was ever a problem and we were very grateful to find a stocked fridge, Debby’s baked treats, Neville’s home-roasted coffee, and a bottle of wine! They were even so generous as to offer us some tomatoes from their garden :o) There are also beautiful views out towards the back of the property onto the tidal estuary. We would stay with Neville & Debby again in a heartbeat.

Fully self contained with your own kitchen and bathroom - towels and linen provided. The chalet is 'cosy warm' has wifi, freeview and great view to the sea in a garden full of features - you'll love it, right in the heart of Golden Bay!
Hayley and I believe Golden bay offers everyone what they are looking for in New Zealand. A unique community from farmers to artists are very welcoming. A mix of walks, stunning beaches, water falls, forest, hills, caves all easy to access - and then cafe's, galleries, music - just speak to us and we will point you in the right direction.

  • What a hidden little paradise! Steve is absolutely lovely and tries hard to make his guests feel comfortable and welcome. His breakfast was the best we have had on our entire trip, and the massage artist that was recommended was amazing. The cottage we stayed in was very homey and quiet, with wonderful views from the bed facing the patio windows. We were lucky the pizza oven was lit when we arrived and we got to mingle with a few guests over pizza. I want to go back!

  • Beautiful, welcoming and charming place to explore Golden Bay. Steve made us fantastically welcome and spoilt us with a feast from the pizza oven one night! Highly recommend for a peaceful stay in this area.

This two bedroom cottage provides you with the perfect base for your visit to the top of New Zealand's South Island just minutes away from The Abel Tasman National Park, the Riwaka River Resurgence, the Tasman Great Taste Trail and the Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park. Or if you are looking for a peaceful retreat in a rural setting look no further. Sit back and relax on the deck and enjoy the stunning view across the valley and the antics of the numerous birds and animals on site.
Orchard View Cottage is situated upon 20 acres of private land which includes, pasture, native bush & riverside. The cottage overlooks the property and has pine forest to the rear. Well away from the road the cottage is ideally situated for families with children; trout fishermen (as the Riwaka River borders the property); the more active & those people who just want to escape the crowds. It is also a perfect base from which to explore the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park or laze on the beaches of Kaiteriteri & Marahau which are all just 15 minutes away by car. Orchard View can sleep 4 people in 2 bedrooms, one with queen sized bed and the second with two single bunk beds. Freshly laundered bed linen & towels are provided. The kitchen is equipped with electric stove, large fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster etc & in the living/dining area there is SKY TV and a DVD player. The large deck which catches the sun all day is furnished with gas BBQ, tables & chairs for outdoor living.
We are fortunate to have our own small piece of paradise just minutes away from the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park and the very popular golden sandy beach at Kaiteriteri. At the end of the road is the Riwaka Resurgence and Crystal Pool. This is where the northern branch of the Riwaka River emerges from the depths of the Takaka Hill and is an easy 40 minute walk away. All this and yet only a 15 minute drive into Motueka where you will find cafes, restaurants and bars.
  • Really pretty cottage. Had some lovely BBQs on the verandah

  • Great relaxing place with friendly hosts. Wonderful outside area looking out over the lawns and farm animals. Great BBQ for cooking on and a fantastic location very close to Kaiteriteri, Abel Tasman track, Takaka hill and Motueka for shops and cafes, couldn't be in a better location for exploring the Abel Tasman area. Make sure you bring your fly spray for those nasty sandflies though!!

  • This great little cottage has everything you need in a beautiful spot close to Abel Tasman.

  • Clean, comfortable, and lovely place. We would like to be here again!

  • Lovely cottage. Best described as a true Kiwi Batch. No Internet connection and poor phone reception. But who needs that living next to Llamas and free range chooks.

  • Cottage was in a fantastic location and the hosts were very friendly. We had a lovely weekend away. The kids loved all the animals and we would recommend this holiday home

  • Wow! What a spot! A short drive to Motueka and Kaiteriteri this place is the perfect base for exploring the area. A quaint little cottage, our toddler had an absolute blast swimming in the fresh water stream, feeding the chooks and exploring the farm with all of Kate and lens animals. Abby the dog was a real hit too. We would highly recommend to any families looking for a lovely space away from the craziness of kaiteriteri, but still close enough to tours and the Abel Tasman. Highly recommend and hope to be back.

    Motueka, Tasman, Nueva Zelanda

Retreat accommodation set in native bush at Te Manawa Ecovillage high above the stunning Motueka Valley. Find yourself again in the relaxing and peaceful atmosphere of the treehouse and yurt, nature and spectacular views of the mountains, river and Tasman Bay. Enjoy nature from this comfortable place. Relax in the hammock and read, bushwalks on property or try a morning qigong classes or individual holistic life coaching/direction sessions which are available on request.
A yurt is a circular building used in Asia for housing. What makes this space unique is the generous deck in the treetops with seaviews and separate building with bathroom/kitchen and bedroom. Bathroom has always hot shower, a flush toilet and a very decent kitchen. The deck it truly spectacular and is the highlight of the place. You have the entire place to yourself.
The accommodation is located within the "Te manawa" eco village. A unique project by 6 families to regenerate 150 acres of native bushland. There are many walking tracks on the property but you can also visit the Motueka river in the valley for a swim.
  • Tranquility easily found at this yurt stay. We'll be back again.

  • Awesome place if you want to just chill out and get amongst nature. Yurt is super warm and the treehouse gives you all the facilities of home. The kids loved stargazing and the view is beautiful.

  • One of the best Airbnb experiences I have ever had! This really is an amazing place to escape the crowds of Abel Tasman and have true peace and quiet in a beautiful, eco minded location. The yurt and second building are both lovely, a great combo of luxe amenities in a remote and quiet location. Motueka is only a short drive away if you need some civilisation but you could honestly spend the whole time here and be perfectly happy. Wished we could have stayed longer.

  • Lovely place to stay off the beaten track. Great view & very relaxing. The Yurt was something special, a bit like glamping but better. Would recommend if you are looking for something different.

  • A unique experience with wonderful views well worth the drive!

    John2019-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying in the Yurt - amazing views and the heater kept the place lovely and warm. Would recommend highly.

    Stephanie2019-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful setting with oceans views and great sunrise. Space is tidy and warm, a great space for a group to be around the fire in the evening!

    Ben2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • We just loved the Yurt! It's much much nicer in real than on the pictures for us. After a steep drive up the hill you'll arrive in a lovely and quite place where you can enjoy the view from your own private deck. The Yurt is very cosy and romantic with the fireplace. The possibility to cook and have another little home with kitchen, bathroom and bedroom is just amazing! Would love to stay there again.
