  • Fantastic stay at the farmhouse! The farmhouse is so cute, VERY well appointed, extremely thoughtful touches and sparkling clean. The activity barn was a great source of excitement for our kids. We loved the farmstead experience and would definitely stay again—our kids said it was the favorite place we’ve ever stayed.

    Rebecca2019-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Not enough words to express how wonderful the Farm House is. You will take a step back in time & away from your troubles for a bit. The moment you walk in you instantly feel welcomed. The special touches & thoughtfulness that went into every room is amazing. It is so peaceful and relaxing. We had my son's 18th Birthday here & there was an awesome fire pit to set around & drink hot cocoa. There is a huge grill to cookout on. We were greeted with homemade cookies & a baby goat to love on. They are the nicest hosts ever! I have stayed in many Airbnb's but this was is by far the best. The details!! Go check it out, you will be so happy that you did. I know I want to come stay again & for longer. Amazing!!!

    Beth2018-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fabulous! Loved every minute of our visit here. Would definitely recommend 🙂

    Fidelma2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot express enough how wonderful our experience was at the Old Missouri Farmhouse! Not only was the house comfortable and quaint, but it was fully stocked with necessities above and beyond expectations! Our daughter enjoyed feeding the goats and the cows, and playing croquet, and flying the kite! Theresa and Harlan were friendly and helpful hosts and we hope to return in the future!

    Caitlin2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place was just what we needed. Close to family, and a place to rest and recharge. I highly recommend it.

    Suzanne2018-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place was incredible! I wish we could have stayed longer. We came to a beautiful farm house, with snacks and plenty of towels for our 5-person bridage. We loved saying hi to the dogs and cows, and roasting marshmallows at sunset. Theresa and Harlan really thought of everything, including tea, hot cocoa, and bug spray. Hope to come back again, it was so relaxing and beautiful.

    Rebecca2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a place to stay near Joplin, MO, where we were traveling to visit our daughter and grandson. We wanted a place that would allow us to relax and have room for our grandson to stay with us for the week. Harlan and Theresa’s farmhouse was the perfect place! A beautiful house with beds for all and lots of fun surprises that we didn’t expect! We loved feeding the cows and petting the goats! Harlan was wonderful with our grandson and answered all of his questions about the cows, goats, tractors, feed, and more! We played corn hole, walked the property, saw deer, played games inside, and had a wonderful time on the farm and exploring Carthage. We recommend this delightful place to anyone visiting the Joplin/Carthage area! Comfortable beds, plush towels, washer and dryer...all the comforts of home with wonderful hosts!

    Tamera2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • If you like the farm house feel with touches of the past you will love the farm house! The hosts have stocked it so nicely and thought of everything. We were wishing our kids were still young and there to play the games outdoors, ride bikes, and have an outdoor fire to roast marshmallows. 😊 I could have used a few more days there!

From the thoughtful details to the beautiful decor, there isn’t any place else we will stay when visiting Carthage! • Perfect for a weekend stay in Carthage!!

    Jennifer2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful Flat in a remodeled old building off the historic Carthage square. Extremely clean remodel with the original 1880’s wood floor and old doors. The hosts are excellent communicators, even leaving little note cards throughout the space to help you get situated. If your traveling to Carthage this is the perfect option and better than staying at a hotel in Joplin.

    Michael2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was excellent! Sparkling clean and oh so comfy! Dave & Carissa were fantastic hosts, always accessible if you had questions with a quick response. I would highly recommend staying with Dave & Carissa at any of their locations, just a few steps away from the beautiful Carthage square!

  • Jeanne's Bed and Breakfast is a wonderful place to stay. It has a magical charm with it's turn of the century style and decor surpassed only by Jeanne's hospitality and caring attitude. She's also an incredible chef. The breakfasts are healthy and delicious. I have dietary restrictions and Jeanne went out of her way to accommodate me and my schedule. I highly recommend this amazing Bed and Breakfast to anyone who likes comfort and charm as well as "home away from home".

    Pamela2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jeanne was the perfect host, and so helpful when my flights and car rental got screwed up, and I ended up arriving in the middle of the night driving a 15-person passenger van! It is a little thing, but it was so nice after a long day of terrible travel to find makeup wipes in the bathroom :) Breakfast was great, especially the pancakes. I'd easily recommend staying here.

  • Fun to see new places and meet new acquaintances. We own a design/build firm that specializes in historic adaptive reuse projects. We loved the original and unique wood work that has been lovingly maintained. The down town historic drive area is about a 2 mile round trip from the B&B on foot; a lovely morning stroll even in the rain.

Newly built "off the grid" tiny cabin on 125 acres of Ozark fields and forest off historic Route 66. Designed for those who want to sample a simpler life. Hike in our woods, ride a bike down the road, view wildlife, enjoy a bonfire and star gazing, or sit on the porch or in a hammock and relax! The cabin is equipped with everything you will need for your off grid experience, including woodstove for heat, fans for cooling, cooking supplies, linens, solar shower and composting toilet.
The cabin was built in a shaded walnut grove on the Old Missouri farm. It was designed for those who want to sample an earlier life without all the modern conveniences. It is a great place to relax, slow down, and unwind. There is no TV, no WiFi, no AC, no "running" water, and no major appliances. The cabin is equipped with everything you need for your off the grid experience: comfortable beds with fresh linens, bath towels, soaps, a full stocked cabin kitchen (seasonings, cooking oil, coffee, tea, cocoa, dishes, pots and pans, camp stoves and grills) and more. We provide guests with 10 gallons of fresh filtered water for drinking, cooking, and washing dishes. If more water is needed, there is an outside hydrant down the road at the Farm House to refill the containers. We also provide a 5 gallon container of water for outside use and 55 gallon container of potable water for showering. We have a system for hot showers but the bathhouse itself is not heated. Note that in freezing temperatures the heated water system has to be shut down, but we have solar shower bags where you can add warm water and still have a nice shower. We also have a modern composing toilet (much better than an outhouse). The cabin has a 24 volt solar power system the provides electricity for installed low energy use lights and a DC Vornado fan for cooling the cabin. For those chilly nights we have a wood stove for heat (we provide the wood). If you are not familiar with operating a woodstove, we are happy to demonstrate. Since the cabin is not equipped with a refrigerator, we provide a cooler, but you will need to supply your the ice. The cabin has a great porch for sitting; hammocks for relaxing; fields and forest for hiking; games to play outdoors; bikes to ride; and books and board games if you want to stay snuggled inside There is also a fire pit with all the needed cooking tools. We also have a 150 yard farm driving range for those who love golf - bring your short irons! We would be happy to provide information on other things to do and see in our area. We have something for everyone within a short drive of the farm. We are located right off Historic Route 66 Highway and we are co-owners of Route 66 Airfield that is adjacent to the farm.

  • What a beautiful place to spend Thanksgiving! Ample room, well stocked kitchen for cooking...simply amazing! And the screened in porch was the icing on the cake!

  • This house was amazing! It was big enough for my whole family to not feel like we were on top of each other. We brought fold up chairs to sit in the courtyard and it was fabulous! I had trouble with the lockbox when we got to the house and Jamie responded right away and helped us. There weren’t tons of house rules which made it super easy to check out. I’d stay here again at my next family reunion.

  • As someone who travels for work, and has stayed in Airbnb's in several countries, and many states, this was one of my absolute favorite houses i have EVER stayed in. I felt like royalty. Loved the place, would give it 6 stars if i could.

  • The home is a beautiful and charming Victorian home. We were in a spacious room called the Mark Twain room. You feel as though you’ve walked back in time but with modern conveniences. So many small touches here and there of a time gone by. The home and our room was clean as could be, and breakfast the following morning prepared by Jean was delicious and beautifully presented. Fine china and beautiful linens on the table. So lucky to have found this jewel in Carthage, MO.

  • Delightful Victorian home with very friendly hosts. Jeanne cooked two delicious breakfasts - pancakes first day and omlet with scones the second day. Ended our day enjoying a glass of wine on the spacious front porch We recommend her historic home during your next stay in Carthage.

  • This B&B is by far above any others we have stayed in. Jeanne's suggestions were all spot on and completely enhanced our visit with Carthage's history and beauty! She knows so much about the history of the house and it's obvious a lot of love goes into it.

  • Jeanne was a fabulous host. She was a great communicator, super accommodating, catered to my food allergy in our breakfast, and super sweet with my young children. We would stay again in a heartbeat. Thanks so much, Jeanne!

  • This is a lovely place to stay. We came to visit family for the Maple Leaf Festival and it was the perfect location with welcoming hosts and a nice breakfast everyday. It's a beautiful historic home and long time residents of the area know it well. We enjoyed it!
