  • The Barn at Noelle's Cottages

    The Barn at Noelle's Cottages

The Barn is a luxury 5* self-catering barn conversion, an interesting contemporary holiday home with a mixture of textures, colour and light. It really is a ‘Grand Design’, with a contemporary but cosy style sitting comfortably within rustic architecture. It sleeps 5 within its three separate sleeping areas. The Barn is nestled within two splendid, professionally designed gardens. One is an Italian pebble courtyard full of structural plants and shapes with a large wooden seated area for family meals, and the other is a hidden gem for a romantic evening with champagne catching the evening sun. This unique holiday home offers an amazing space for those seeking a holiday in the North York Moors with a contemporary style, giving plenty of room to stretch out and relax. The Barn is located within the grounds of Middleton Hall, which is in the village of Middleton just on the outskirts of the popular market town of Pickering. One can walk to Pickering in 20 minutes or drive there in just a few minutes. Middleton Village itself has a wonderful pub serving food and drink, a petrol station, a convenience store, a post office and a tea room. The Barn boasts a professionally designed contemporary interior, whilst retaining the character of the original farm barn, with revealed stone walls and original barn roof trusses. The huge patio doors and roof-lights let plenty of natural light into the large main space within which you'll find the fully equipped kitchen, large dining table for entertaining and comfortable sofa area, with flat screen TV. There are remotely controlled blinds to reduce heat gain in summer and to exclude the early morning sunshine for those in the twin bedroom. Off the Northern side of the kitchen and main living area, there is a second cosy sitting room, with a second flat screen TV, DVD player, and a wood burning stove, which makes for a relaxed atmosphere in which to unwind on a winters evening. A splendid sleeping area, with separate dressing area on a mezzanine floor, is accessed up the elegant glass and walnut stairs. The blue wet-room with central power shower and the utility room complete this part of The Barn’s accommodation. At the south end of The Barn, accessed by a separate walnut staircase, is the sumptuous twin mezzanine bedroom looking out across the original barn beams. The twin beds will convert easily into a huge double bed upon request. Below is a magnificent bathroom with a deep bath and separate power shower, toilet and basin. Next to it is a single bedroom which is ideal for less able guests as there are no stairs to access it. This room also doubles as a study. Underfloor heating throughout makes for a warm and comfortable space. We would like to keep The Barn and its furnishings to a high standard for the enjoyment of all our guests; unfortunately, this means that we cannot allow pets or smoking.

    Kirkdale Cottage

We are in a tranquil location in a rural agricultural community, but with the benefit of easy access to a range of tourist destinations and sporting activities. Located within the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and offering the modern comforts of home in a unique historic setting. Kirkdale sleeps up to 5, plus an infant in a cot. The cottage is also dog friendly, with up to 3 dogs welcome to stay (downstairs only). Kirkdale Cottage offers all the comforts of home in a beautiful setting. In June 2019 we installed a new kitchen and redecorated much of the cottage. The cottage has a 4* rating with Visit England and offers far reaching views across the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. With countryside walks on the doorstep, we are less than 2 miles from the small picturesque market town of Helmsley - with its castle, walled gardens, spa hotel facilities, heated outdoor swimming pool in summer, numerous pubs, cafes and restaurants. Featuring exposed stone walls, wooden beams and other original features, the cottage offers a historic and relaxing setting for your holiday. We are continuously working to improve and update our cottages and facilities for guests. Our new kitchen was completed in summer 2019, with redecoration throughout, as well as a cosy log burner to relax in front of during colder spells.. The kitchen includes a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave oven, toaster, kettle, full size fridge freezer, iron, hob & oven. The cottage is centrally heated; the bathroom has a shower cubicle (no bath); we offer free parking for guests. Downstairs the cottage has a living room with exposed Yorkshire stone walls and original features from its earlier use as a farm building. The living room has a log burner, TV, two sofas (seating six), window seat, side and coffee tables. The living room opens into the dining area (a table and six chairs) and kitchen. Upstairs there are three bedrooms: bedroom 1 has a double bed, wardrobe, plus bedside cabinets; bedroom 2 has two single beds plus wardrobe and drawers. Bedroom 3 comprises single bed, wardrobe, plus bedside cabinet. New ottoman beds provide additional storage for guests' luggage etc. The bathroom has a toilet, hand basin and shower cubicle, with new flooring (October 2018) and decoration. Kirkdale Cottage is one of four holiday cottages at Sproxton Hall Cottages. All benefit from the use of our landscaped grounds which include a courtyard garden with outdoor furniture, a large lawned area with picnic benches and an enclosed dog exercise paddock. The cottages have on-site parking for up to 2 cars per cottage. We are in a tranquil location in a rural agricultural community, but with the benefit of easy access to a range of tourist destinations and sporting activities. It is an ideal base for the Yorkshire moors, dales, coast & York. The cottage is popular with walkers, cyclists and families wanting to explore North Yorkshire - we are within easy reach of the North Yorkshire coast (Whitby, Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay), Pickering, York, Castle Howard. We are a stones throw from Ampleforth Abbey, The White Horse at Kilburn and the stunning views of Sutton Bank. York is less than 25 miles away and has been voted Britains most popular city due to its castle, walls, museums, shops and Minster; it is particularly popular with our guests whatever the weather. The picturesque steam railway from Pickering crosses Goathland/Heartbeat country to the coast at Whitby; Flamingo Land (near Malton) offers a different kind of day out - with its zoo and theme park. There are plenty of nature walks into the quiet countryside from our doorstep, as well as further afield. We offer a dog shower & towels, plus bowls. We provide bed linen, towels, tea towels as well as essentials to get you started including tea, coffee, sugar, milk, toilet rolls, washing up liquid, and soap. There is a small supermarket less than 2 miles away. We are open all year and guests love to enjoy the changing seasons, making use of the log burner in the colder months. We are popular with dog owners in November and New Year due to our quiet location (the lack of fireworks). Kirkdale cottage is popular with couples of all ages, families and single visitors - often keen walkers or visitors wanting to spend time in the North York Moors and surrounding areas. Popular attractions for children include Helmsley Castle, the Pickering/North York Moors Steam Railway, Go Ape at Dalby Forest, Flamingo Land, and the chocolate and Viking experiences at York. En route to York you might want to stop off and see Piglet at his Adventure Land or tackle the Maize Maze. There is a wide choice of traditional pubs in surrounding villages (details of menus and discounts for guests are available) and Helmsley hosts a number of cafes, restaurants (Indian, Italian), and pubs, including a micro-brewery. Many of Helmsley's amenities welcome dogs. Local taxi service available if needed. Kirkdale Cottage is one of four cottages at Sproxton Hall Cottages.
