We will begin with a peek in the Boutique, featuring jewelry handcrafted by award-winning US artists, and a behind-the-scenes look at my working jewelry studio. I will also share some history of my 1890 building, including a copy of the handwritten deed to the original house. In the workshop you will use a combination of specialized jeweler's hand tools (the same that were used to make jewelry in the 19th century) and modern equipment to make your bracelet. First, you will hammer steel letter stamps to impress inspirational words, phrases, and designs of your choice onto a copper strip. Then, you will form the strip into a cuff bracelet with hammers and steel tools, oxidize (blacken) the metal, and polish to your desired finish. You will go home with a meaningful piece of jewelry that you created with your own hands. We limit the workshop to four students to guarantee lots of personal instruction, as well as the opportunity to get to know your classmates. You can relax and enjoy a glass of wine. Other things to note Our studio workstations are separated by plexiglass barriers. Hand sanitizer, masks, and disposable smocks are available. Unfortunately, our Victorian-era building is not fully accessible to the handicapped.

Los secretos de la estación Union Station
Join Atlas Obscura in partnership with Union Station Redevelopment Corporation for a behind-the-scenes tour of Washington Union Station, where you will learn the secrets of Daniel Burnham's 1907 architectural masterpiece! The opening of DC's opulent Union Station energized the city and forever changed how Washingtonians traveled. More than a century later, the station still buzzes with travelers, trains, and history. On this approximately one and a half hour tour, we will explore spaces that the 37 million passengers, tourists, and shoppers who pass through Union Station rarely get to see. You will climb steps and open doors into areas where the public is not normally granted access, be shown unique vantage points to view and photograph the station, gain up-close looks at the magnificent details and ornamentation of the station, as well as learn what is being done today to preserve Union Station for years to come. Great for groups visiting Washington, DC. A percentage of the proceeds will go toward ongoing preservation efforts at Union Station. Other things to note: Proof of Vaccination is required. All participants will receive a complimentary Union Station tote bag and a coffee table book on the history of the station.

Stops include the DC War Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, World War II Memorial, the Washington Monument, the White House and the US Capitol Building, all by moonlight! La Casa Blanca con un antiguo empleado de Kennedy
This is a walking and history tour that walks the complete outside circumference of the gated portion of the White House. Prior to 09/11, as a former White House staffer, I could simply show my ID and take visitors in for a tour. That perk evaporated on 09/12/2001, and inside tours must be requested through a member of Congress. An external, walking tour is the next best thing to a tour inside, with my sharing features of major rooms in the White House, the West Wing, and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, where my office was when I worked at the White House. In addition to the history of the building and stories about some of its occupants, you get the perspective of a former White House staffer who worked for two US presidents and on the campaigns of two candidates who did not win the presidency. I have met every president who has served during my lifetime, from FDR through the current president. The meet place is outside the White House Visitor Center, on Pennsylvania Avenue, between 14th and 15th Streets, NW. The walk begins by passing through the recently dedicated National World War I Memorial, and proceeds past the Sherman Monument to the Ellipse on the side of the White House, with stories, photographs, and opportunities for questions. Continuing toward the official front of the White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, we pass the first headquarters of the America

Your self-guided experience will begin with an in-depth video introduction to our history and our secret doors, as well as what to look for as you go. Then, we will send you off on your own to search for the secrets and treasures that are everywhere to be found. As you explore the mansion, which is steeped in history and intrigue, you'll be walking in the footsteps of presidents, freedom fighters, G-Men, historians, famous musicians, and fiction writers. Built 125 years ago, nearly every President since Teddy Roosevelt has visited. • socially distanced self-guided tour • masks available & required for unvaccinated guests • hand sanitizer stations throughout • complimentary gloves available • signage to promote social distancing Other things to note All ages can attend. El sabor de Georgetown: gastronomía e historia
We'll meet at the first restaurant stop and you'll learn a little more about what to expect from your tour experience. We want to make sure that you have fun, learn a few new things, and end up pleasantly full by the end of your tour. Sample Southern comfort food in a Prohibition-era bar where John F. Kennedy proposed to Jackie Bouvier, sip tea near a canal once used to transport goods to the West, and taste socially-conscious street food that helps feed refugees. Once a thriving port town, Georgetown is DC’s oldest neighborhood and still reveals glimpses of mule-drawn boats and flour mills. Discover Georgetown’s cosmopolitan past, where people from every continent and many religions lived together and built an eclectic culinary community. More than just a premier shopping destination, Georgetown has a delicious and culturally-diverse history that might surprise you. Other things to note The tour goes out in rain or shine so dress appropriately. A potion of your ticket will be donated back to help feed a local in need through our partnership with Bread for the City. Allergies or dietary restrictions? We try our best to accommodate you. Please let us know in advance. Please note: Unfortunately, as our tastings contribute to our story, we are not able to accommodate vegan diets, dairy, or gluten allergies on our Georgetown tour.

With a commanding view of Washington DC, Arlington preserves the history of the United States' past. Every war is represented here, from the American Revolution to the present day. Take a guided walk through the cemetery to hear the famous and little known stories contained within this hallowed ground. We'll wave to the Madame VP as we pass behind her house and hit the trails that connect Rock Creek Park to Dumbarton Oaks Estate. Optional 1 mile extension to wind through the grounds of the Dumbarton Oaks Estate. From here, we'll run the trails to Rock Creek Park and end at the Smithsonian Zoo (say hi to the animals, free of charge!). Optional ending at one of my favorite coffee shops for a little caffeine jolt to supercharge your morning. Flexible and relaxed pace as this experience is about seeing new places and running the trails of DC. Other things to note: Dress for an adventure run/hike/walk.
