Venice Beach Walkstreet Cottage

Don't hesite this is THE perfect place to stay in Los Angeles! Nice, comfortable, clean, great location and very kind host

I rented Maddy and John's cottage for my mom, who came down to L.A. for my graduation. I selected it because of the great reviews, which, as it turns out, could not have been more accurate. The room was immaculate, comfortable, and relaxing, and Maddy and John (who we met during the weekend) were wonderful. I would recommend Maddy and John's cottage to anyone coming to Venice or Santa Monica. With a place like this available, and for this price, there is almost no reason to stay in a hotel ever again.

Maddy and John's place was "as advertised", and they were friendly hosts. Their cottage is located in a very cool location, on one of a handful of so-called "walk streets" where the houses face each other across a narrow walk-path (rather than across a typical street). So, the area feels more secluded, and the greenery is very lush and nice. We enjoyed having a small outdoor space, as well as an invitation to use the owners' gas fireplace that also sits in the yard. Our overall experience was excellent, but I've tried to think of any info that we gleaned that might be of use to future travellers. A couple things come to mind. First, if you're not an early-riser, Tuesday mornings may begin with a bang as a series of garbage trucks creep along the alleyway behind the cottage and transact a lot of loud business. It didn't bother us as were still on East Coast time, but others might want to plan on a 7AM wake-up that day. Second, we stayed in early May and did not need air-conditioning, but I didn't notice any a/c system in the cottage, so if you're planning to visit in the hotter months, it might be useful to chat with the owners to see how the place is cooled. You can certainly open windows at night, but as you are on the ground-floor and the windows sit only a few feet off the ground, I am not sure if that is the suggested method. One other note, the internet got very sluggish at times, but the modem can be rebooted and the speeds will rebound tenfold. So, just ask John or Maddy if you are having problems. Again, our stay was great, and we would not hesitate to recommend this great spot.

Maddy and John's Venice Walkstreet Cottage is absolutely wonderful! The cottage is beautifully decorated and they have thought of everything you might need/want while in Venice. We enjoyed the complimentary wine and cheese, greatly appreciated the beach bag and towels, and loved eating our lunch out on the patio. The shower is terrific, bed is very comfy and linens and towels are lovely. Maddy and John are excellent hosts. I would give them five starts if I could! Wish we could have stayed longer; we will definitely return to this cottage whenever we can.

Fabulous time at Maddy and Johns Cottage ! Maddy and John are both friendly and ever helpful. We were actually glad to have a rainy day so we could stay home and enjoy the cosy cottage. The surrounding neighbourhood is also gorgeous . . . highly recommend to anyone wanting a quality place to stay with all the comforts of home . Many thanks Maddy and John :)

If we could give this spot more than five stars we would. Maddy and John were extremely friendly and welcoming and the cottage was just lovely, really thoughtfully appointed and well-maintained. The location was spectacular, though I imagine if one was planning on spending time in more locations than just Venice it might be a tad bit out of the way. For our needs, though, it was wonderful, an easy walk to the beach and to shops and restaurants and in a really charming neighborhood. We had a great trip, and we'll definitely be back.

This is a fabulous spot to stay! The little cottage is very cosy, immaculately clean and the bed was very comfortable We hired their bikes and cycled down along the venice canals and the beach. We loved the complimentary wine and cheese and John and Maddy were extremely helpful with tips on the local resturants. We were on the last days of our holiday and just enjoyed relaxing in the cottage. I would definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone!!

Maddy and John offer the perfect pied a terre for those who wish to explore Venice and the surrounding areas. Just a short walk to the beach and trendy Abbot Kinney. You won't be disappointed!
