They are now retired and spend time between their place in Torino and their place in the countryside. My mom loves doing little chores in the house, including sewing/knitting (e.g., she has a professional sewing machine and all kinds of gadgets). My dad keeps himself busy with DIY work in and outside the house. The neighborhood is a residential area and very convenient to the center of Torino. With that comes more peace and a more Italian village vibe. I would suggest a stay at my parent's place if you are looking for a very hospitable home with very available MAMA and PAPA ready to help you in any way they can.
