“I've known Natalie for well over ten years, we both hail from just west of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and went to college together. I could say that I can "vouch for her people" but that probably doesn't mean much to you if you're reading this....it's a Louisiana thing...but seriously...I know her people...she grew up in one of the most interesting towns in Cajun Country...and her family and friends are some of the finest people I have ever met.
I really got to know Natalie when I was her upstairs neighbor in Baton Rouge's historic, charming Spanish Town neighborhood for two years. While the girl I shared the upstairs apartment with might be forgettable, Natalie was not. To this day, I have never had better a better neighbor! Simple as that! We had so much fun together! Some days I wished I lived downstairs with her rather than the evil witch upstairs with whom I shared a dwelling. She was always warm and welcoming, and (because she's an amazing artist) always impressed me with her sense of how to decorate a space. What I'm saying here is the girl's got fantastic taste....in EVERYTHING. It's funny, she's actually always really cool and modest about it like..."oh yeah,...that...I just threw that together yesterday," and you're looking at this warm, inviting room thinking to yourself, "wow, how did she do that?" The girl's got an eye for decorating, y'all. She keeps it clean and modern yet the Southern roots shine through (see warm and inviting above).
Over the years, Natalie has gone on to do amazing things in Chicago, and I've had the opportunity to stay with her a few times...and every time I see her I feel proud to call her my friend. I'm writing this in hope that she might come stay with me, in Brooklyn the next time she comes to NY! Seriously girl, I got a big ol' house here now, with room for you and whoever you wanna bring!
There aren't many people I get excited about writing an Airbnb reference for....Natalie is on the short list. She is not just a five-star host but a five-star person.
